Q: How to override the compressor relay on my 99 honda civic?
My compressor keeps kicking on and off every few seconds and it is full of refrigerant. I want to override the relay on my 99 honda civic so that the compressor will not kick off. Thanks!
A: It is either not full or the pressure switch on the reciever drier is bad. Possibly some other mechanical malfunction such as restriction on low side cutting off compressor.
DO NOT BYPASS or you will be replacing compressor due to failure from lack opf lubrication.
Put a set of A/C guages on it at idle pressure should be steady somewhere around 200 psi high (red) side and 40 psi low side.
If low side drops down to 25 or less and compressor cuts off AND high side is low add refrigerant.
If high side is normal OR high and Low is LOW then their is a restriction in system. Compressor is cutting off as a safety feature to insure it gets lube, lubrication come INTO compressor from low side. if their is a restriction or pressure is low then compressor cuts off till pressure comes back up then cuts on again and repeats as nec.
REPEAT DO NOT BYPASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHECK SYSTEM TO FIND OUT WHY IT’S CUTTING OFF.
EQUIVALENT TO A FUSE KEEPS BLOWING HOW DO I BYPASS THE FUSE, CONSIDER THE COMPRESSOR CUTTING OFF AS A FUSE.
Q: What makes, models and years is a 1991 Honda Civic interchangeable with?
I have a 1991 Honda Civic with a 1989 engine in it. I need to find a new body for it but am not sure which makes and models are interchangeable with the parts on my 91 civic.
A: Depends on what parts you’re talking about. The ‘88-’91 Civics have the same body style, so pretty much everything is going to switch over (there are some minor changes from ‘88-’89 & ‘90-’91). Other than that, it’s likely that you’ll need to do some kind of modifications to put any parts on any other cars (like an engine, transmission, & ecu transplant).
Q: How much would a transmission cost for a automatic 2002 honda civic?
I am having problems with my 2002 honda civic and will most likely need to get a new or rebuilt transmission. Does anyone know how much a new/rebuilt transmission plus labor would cost for a 2002 honda civic? Thanks for your help! : )
A: over 1000
Q: How much would it cost for a Honda Civic Hatchback and B20 engine swap?
How much would it cost, and is it worth it, to buy 1995 honda civic hatchback and swap the engine for a B20? Also would it be a good choice to buy an Acura Legend? Is it fast?
A: B20 engine range any where from $600 to $3200 all depends on what has be done to it for example a B20 with a B16a head is what you would call a Frankenstein, a demon in the racing industry shop on ebay see what you can find, as for a legend thats more a car for looks you can if you like sup it up but thats a waste of time, and ek with a B20 vtex or a H22 prelude engine would be the way to go, thats my opinion.
Q: How to remove a panel from my Honda Civic (area behind the front headlight)?
I have a sizable dent (maybe the size of a volleyball) in the panel that is behind the front right headlight of my Honda Civic. If I were able to remove the panel, I’m pretty sure I could push the dent out (the metal isn’t really bent, just “pushed in”). Is there any easy way for me to remove the panel and then reaffix it? Thanks!
A: You’ll need a ratchet wrench (and an extension for the bolt at the door hinge) and 10mm socket to remove the bolts holding the side fender panel. 3 on top, one behind the door hinge. You’ll also need to remove the screws underneath holding the splash guard.
Once removed, you’ll be able to pull out the panel (side fender) very easily. However, you may have a hard time trying to pull/push the dent back into shape. I had to jump on mine to form the metal sheet to an acceptable shape, lol.
If you’re lucky, you can visit your local auto junk yard for just this part and find the one in your model and in your color. Then replace it.
Good luck!
Q: How do i add power steering fluid to a 2003 honda civic hybrid?
How do i add power steering fluid to a 2003 honda civic hybrid? I can not find the power steering reservoir. Help!
I referenced the manual and there is no mention of it. Only transmission, coolant, oil and brake fluid.
A: if you cant find it. look at the manual that came with the car it should show where it located. if not go to a autozone and look at a chilton book or something. it should have a black cap on it and it will say power steering fluid only.
Q: How much does a timing belt replacement cost on a honda civic?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic lx. I have 185,000 miles on it and have been told multiple times that i should have the timing belt replaced. Does anyone know how much that generally costs? There is a place here that says that the price starts at $199. Let me know your thoughts!!! Thanks!
A: The labour time is 3.6 hours for that job. This quote is for air conditioning, cruise control power steering which will all interfere with getting to the timing belt. Now because the water pump is driven by the timing belt, it makes sense to replace it at the same time. The belt will be around $60 and the pump is almost $90 from the dealer. The labour is the shops door rate times the 3.6… I just did one yesterday.

Q: How much is it to put in an original 1998 Honda Civic steering wheel?
I am looking at buying a car. The only problem is, it has an aftermarket racing steering wheel. I would like to replace it with an original honda civic one and was wondering how much this costs?
A: the wheel is the cheap part – maybe $20-50 used on the web. The AIRBAG is going to run you $100+. I would NOT buy the car unless it came with the unused airbag and, in some states, it may be REQUIRED to be reinstalled prior to selling the car.
Q: What are some similar cars to a honda civic or?
What are some similar cars to a honda civic, delsol, or even a voltswagon golf?
A: Get the Focus coupe mazdas look like an awful poor persons car.
Q: How do I fix the power windows on my 87 Honda civic?
I just bought an 87 honda civic, which is great, but the power windows are SO slow to come up, and sometimes don’t come up at all. They usually always move down, but won’t come up (except for really slowly).
I have spent alot of money on this car already, and I need the cheapest possible solution, so some advice would be appreciated. The rubber in between the windows seems to cling a bit. Is it possible thats causing the delay on the wind up?
I know its an old car, so maybe thats where the problem is, but is there an extremely economic solution to this problem?
Thank you.
A: Well you could try using a little armor all or silicone spray on the places where it contacts the window. But my money is the silenoid/relay is bad, you have to take the door panel off to replace it, they are usually about $5-$10 each. If that didn’t fix it check the switch, if you have redundant switches see if any make them go faster, sometimes you have a voltage drop when the switches get old, they too are pretty cheap to replace.
Other than that its the window motor getting weak and they will cost $65-$120 per motor and require removal of the door panel, then you have to grind the heads off the rivets that hold the motor in. Then put in the new motor.
A repair manual can be picked up at the local parts store for 10 bucks and will guide you thru the process to fix it.
Q: 95 honda civic automatic tranny, do I have to check the tranny fluid while the car is on ?
95 honda civic automatic tranny, do I have to check the tranny fluid while the car is on ?
A: Look in your owner’s manual. It says to check the transmission fluid with the engine OFF. I believe it should be warmed up though. Here is the actual page from the Owner’s Manual telling you this: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/CV9595/CV9595O00136A.pdf

Q: How to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system?
I am trying to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system already installed. I was wonder if someone could tell me where to look in my car to see if I have it. I have power locks so i dont know if that means anything. Also if im pretty good at installing things is it easy to install if i buy the system off line? Thanks for your help!
A: the 2001 Civic LX did not come with the factory keyless entry as standard equipment. It was available as a dealer installed accessory. The easiest way to tell if you have it, provided the original owner didn’t lose it is to see if you have a remote transmitter. If you have an oval shaped black key fob with lock and unlock buttons that says “honda” on it, you have keyless. If you don’t have the fob it may have been lost but the overwhelming odds are that you don’t have keyless entry on it.
With patience you can install the factory keyless remote system with little problem. I have the instructions from the one I put on my 2005. They are the same system. I bought my kelyess entry system through my honda dealer shortly after I bought th car. The install kit should still be available.
If you would like a scanned copy of those instructions to install the factory system you’ll have to send me an email with a real email address. I cannot attach a file to a Yahoo Answer. to do that, click on the icon above my name to the left of this answer and click on ’send email’. include your return email address in the reply and I’ll send you the instructions.
You may want to price the system before you decide to do this. there are aftermarket systems available at stereo shops and alarm installers as well as at Best Buy, circuit city and others that are probably much less than the Honda system. Plus, they’ll do the intall for you.
Hope that helps

Q: What engine comes stock in a 1993 honda Civic?
I’m putting a new engine in a friends car and he has a 1993 honda civic but doesn’t know what type of engine is in it. I don’t normally work with foreign cars so this isn’t really my area of expertise but i can change a motor out.
A: depending on the country you are and what model(lx,ex,si). You can look at the side the block and it’s stamped; most likely D15xx.
Q: Why is the clock in my 2007 Honda Civic adding minutes?
A year ago I bought a new Civic EX and it adds two minutes every month to the digital clock. My dealer says this is very common and within acceptable range by Honda. After several visits to the dealer, they are unable to determine the cause and unwilling to pay for any further work (as the car is under warranty). Do I have to live with this?
A: Sounds like you may have to get used to it for now. Digital clocks are controlled by it’s own timer in a microchip that may consist of a special arrangement between tiny resistor and capacitor components.
Together it creates a constant frequency that can be used to tell time. If the resistor and capacitors are bad and out of specifications, the timer will fall out of sync against the real time.
A new digital clock replacement will quickly resolve your issue. If your car is still under warranty, you should talk to the manager and demand to have them simply install a new one instead of fumbling around for months to understand why it falls out of sync. It should just be less than $5 to get a simple new digital clock. (make sure you mark the old one somehow so you can tell if they really did install a new one)
Good luck!
