Q: What are the common problems in Used Honda Accord 2003-04?
Question for Honda experts. I’m looking for 2003-04 Honda Accord, I understand that there were some automatic transmission problems earlier. Are those problems only limited to V6 models or 4-cylinder are involved too? What are the early signs of tranny problems? Harsh shifting? What else? Which engine is more trouble-free, V6 or 4-cylinder?

A: There are two main problems with the earlier 7th generation (03-04) accord models. The first one is with the LCD display on the radio module going dark due to the faulty chip. Without the display it’s really hard to operate the controls such as audio operations, ac/heater etc.
The second one is with the automatic transmission on the V-6 models (only) due to the insufficient lubrication on the second gear.
But, honda has acknowledged this problems and extended its warranty to 100,000 miles or 7 yrs. So if you buy a car that has under 100,000 miles, the honda dealership will fix these problems for free. For the radio, they will replace the circuit board and for the transmission, they will install new lubrications kit. But if there is enough damage on the transmission already, they’ll tell you to replace the whole transmission. You might have to pay a part of it.
And as for your other questions, the signs of tranny problems is the slipping of gears which causes the engine to rev high. 4-cylinder is definitely problem free but if you want more power get the V-6 version and have honda dealership fix it for free or just go with 05’s

A: The shipping cost itself to a Japanese port form a US (LA area) port is $1,200 according to Jspec Works web page.
The opposite direction from Japan to US may be similar cost.
And overall order cost (incl. custom clearance etc.) may be around $5,000 in addition to the vehicle price.
I think it is not bat idea to contact the company who work for importing car to US form Japan to get a estimate.

A: I can think of three rather low cost possibilities.
Change your oil and use a heavier weight oil. You could be rather low on oil or you haven’t changed it for awhile.
It sounds like it could be pinging so first try to use premium fuel. If that works, you might either need a tune up or you car is in need of premium fuel.
One of your fanbelts is loose and either vibrates or scrapes against something when cold or during acceleration. You can check on this one if you open your hood, start your cold car and run out to see if the fanbelt is vibrating.
The other reasons get rather expensive so try these first before seeing a mechanic.

A: hmmm trade in value is quote around 1,500.00 us, not bad, and if you sell it on the street, maybe 2,000.00 if in good shape. Thats based on it being a 1987 700 cc honda shadow.

Honda manufacture their lawnmower decks from Xenoy but what grade do they use and why do they us Xenoy?
A: well dont know what % they used but it is tough i used to sell tham and honda had to justify the price with new products and i never had a complaint on there mowers wich are rated number one, they took a mower deck with thay Xenoy and took a mack truck and tried to crush it and it did not crush i seen it in there sales training vid

So I need a car for my commute to class (about 15 miles each way) and was looking at buying a used Honda Civic. I need something that will be reliable since obviously I can’t miss class, especially in the compacted summer classes. I also need something that will last for a fairly long time. Will I be able to get a Civic with 100k miles on it and drive it to 200k miles with little problem? My budget is around 5-6k
A: No, if you buy a car with 100k miles on it you’re dumb cars aren’t made to last long after 100k

I’m looking to buy a car and I found a used 07 Honda Civic Si. The car looks to be in great shape, the only drawback is that it has around 38,000 miles on it. They are asking 19,625 for it. Since it has so many miles on it, is it worth it? I’m not very familiar with the Si’s.

Yes, I know how to drive stick. My current car, 99 accord is a stick shift. I want another manual.
A: Not worth it. you can walk off a lot with a BRAND NEW SI, for $19K out the door (if you know how to bargain, put down a good cash downpayment and have a good interest rate). We just negotiated for a 07 SI for $16 K with only 10K miles on it.
38K on a year old car? that’s way too much traveling in that car. The average American travels about 12K – 15 K per year.

A: 2008? They just came out and unless someone is really hard up, I doubt there will be much inventory. With that in mind I would probably say close to the regular price that the owners paid for them. You could always check ebay motors, craigslist, or any other internet source though….good luck!!

A: Do a internet search for local automotive recycling yards. Call them up and ask for the motor. If you don’t have any local then order it from the internet. Those motors only for for a few hundred dollars. Usually around 500 for a complete assembly.
Labor your looking at anywhere from 500-1000. Since its just the same engine into the same car then id say around 500 in labor.
Engine + labor = 1000-1500

A: look on the front part of the frame their should be a sticker with model number,year and serial number if you can’t find one their then someone has ripped it off
