Are you looking for a BMW 5-Series?

Q: Is the BMW 5 Series any good?
I am very interesting in the 2004 BMW 5 Series sedan, how is the car? in terms or quality, reliability, performance, safety, features?
how much am I gonna pay monthly for this ? and yearly with gas, and maintenance? without insurance or depreciation included?

A: If your worried about cost, its not for you, get a 3 series its much more affordable

Q: which car is better between bmw 5 series and Ford Taurus in driving experience…?
owned bmw 323i…..my father had drove ford taurus at U.S so he want to compare with bmw 5 series…what is your opinion…..
my father had drove ford taurus at U.S so he want to compare with bmw 5 series…what is your opinion…..

A: In terms of driving experience,
The BMW 5-series will be superior in every way. The steering feel will be superior; the car will be faster and more responsive; the brakes will stop quickly and consistently. The interior materials will feel better as well.
It should be noted that the Taurus, especially the new 2010 model, is still a very good car. It is, however, aimed at a very different market segment from the BMW 5-series. The 5-series, in the base 528i trim, will be twice the price of a well equipped Taurus. Thus, the comparison is not very fair as there is no 5-series that is even close in price to the Taurus. The Taurus is marketed for middle-class buyers competing with the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Chevrolet Malibu, etc. The BMW 5-series is a luxury vehicle marketed for upper-class buyers competing with the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, Cadillac CTS/STS, etc.

Q: Is a bmw 5 series a girly car?
My uncle recently sold me a 2001 5 series silver BMW. (I am a dude btw) I was really excited, i told some friends at school about it and they were saying how lucky i am. When this girl texted me saying it was a girly car i was shocked. I never thought about it… Do you think it is girly?

A: No BMW will ever be to girly. They are the “Ultimate driving machine”!!

Q: How do you reset the alarm system for a 1995 BMW 5 series?

A: Disconnect the battery, or find the fuse that corresponds to the alarm, remove and replace it.

Q: What’s the cheapest place I can buy a BMW z4 or 5 series?
I want to buy either a BMW z4 or a 5 series (2006-2007), so I’m trying to find the best offer out there.

A: the best place and I mean you will not find a wider selection for less money is www.cars.com, bought 3 cars through there, 2 of them bmw.

You can try all the rest and compare and you will see what I mean.

Q: What series of BMW is better, the 5 series or the 7 series?
I am looking foward to getting a Bmw car,I want something that is not small, but will also last.I didnt know if the 5 series were preety big. What would you say is the better car,or are some good cars out of these.I am looking to get a 2005 or up.

A: Better for what?

The 7 Series is considered to be the luxury series, where as the 5 series is more of your ‘everyday’ BMW.

My personal favourite is a E34 535i, however, this is a much older vehicle than you are looking for, but if I bought a BMW it would be because it appealed to me, not for a status symbol.

Overall, the 7 Series is a bigger car, but it is also a lot more expensive, and uses a lot more fuel.

Personally, I would be going to the dealer and seeing which model suits your needs best. You may find that you can buy a much cheaper car that does everything you want.

A 7 Series BMW, particularly a newer one, will be very expensive for insurance, as well as for upkeep and services, and for repairs, should something go wrong.

Q: I drive a 5 series BMW now thinking of changing to a 330 diesel as it is slightly smaller?
would the driving experience change My present car is a 525i sport so would it be a mistake to swap to a 3 series sport would i notice much difference.?
5 series is a 01 reg
what parking problems i dont have any as long as i dont have to reverse, heh heh!!!!!!!
we were thinking of one from 2004 onwards

A: For a start a Diesel will be cheaper to run and Diesels these days are very responsive,3 series is my choice of the BMWs it will be a touch smaller so all them parking problems you had should get better (should). You did not mention the year of car if its a old car then Diesels sound a bit rough.Good luck in your choice.

Q: How do i reset the the cd changer in a bmw 5 series?
CD ERROR/NO MAGAZINE messages…

A: There is no such thing as a reset button for a CD Error message. What is needed is to verify that there is really a magazine inserted in the CD changer, and that there are CDs loaded inside the magazine.
If the error message still comes out, try to eject/insert the magazine a couple of times and see if the message goes away and the changer works. If not, then try using a different magazine, if it works with the new, then the old magazine is defective. If the CD changer still does not work with the new
magazine, then the CD changer itself is defective.
You did not mention the year of the car, or if it has I-drive, so I can only guess about other things that could be wrong.
In certain instances, just unplugging/disconnecting the CD changer from the power source (say, overnight) can do wonders in certain models.
For your info, the 5 series has been around for many years
and there are a lot of model variations. It would be best to include the year of manufacture in all postings.

Q: Does a BMW 5 series come with a backup rearview camera?
I am looking for a 2008 BMW 525. I do not see a backup camera on the standard list

A: No, but there are sensors, it beeps when you get close to an object.

Q: What do i need to put a sparco r100 seat into my 1995 bmw 5 series?

A: First you need the seat. not sure about the rest

Q: i have an e39 bmw 5 series and my windshield wipers wont work at all wont spray water or move? they did when ?
what migth be the problem? or what do i have to check? or change

A: Question… Does your stereo work right now?

I don’t know on the 5 series, but on the 3 series the wipers and the stereo are on the same fuse. If it’s the fuse than both won’t work.

It’s a starting place.

Q: Will a 2003 Bmw 5 series headlight fit a 1998 bmw 528i?
Will a 2003 Bmw 5 series HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT fit a 1997 or 1998 or 1999 Bmw 5 series?

A: Absolutely. But it’s always a good idea to see if you can get a more exact match. The styling in the headlights themselves changed a little from those years, but the actual glass should fit perfectly.

Q: My 1986 BMW 5 series, windows stopped working. What can I do myself?
They are electric and I think the switches need to be changed. Does anyone know how or what I need to do to get them to work? I also could use some advice on getting the AC to work.

A: chk the fuse …. the box is either in the trunk or under the hood or both.. you can get fuses from any autoparts store..
the AC prob needs to be recharged , that you have to get done at in a auto shop…

Q: Can i use a vw battery in a 97 5 series BMW?
My aunt has an extra battery that came out of a VW, can I use it in my BMW?

A: you will have to goto the battery venders website and see if that model battery will work on the car you want to put it on.

Q: Has anyone found a solution to Bluetooth compatibility between a Palm Treo 700wx and 2005-2006 BMW 5 Series?

A: Bummer, should have bought a new Ford or Lincoln. No SYNC problems there.

Q: Anybody know where I can buy a Lexus IS 250 at a good price?
I’m looking for an ‘06 or an ‘07 Lexus IS 250 prefferably new but definately within 15,000 miles +/- a little bit. I’m hoping to get a deal close to invoice. Anybody know some good dealers (in the south) or websites?

A: Check out cars.com

Q: How do I turn off the security system lockout on a Lexus 450lx?
My gear shifter on my 1997 Lexus 450lx is now locked out so I have to use a pen to shift every time I put the car in park. I think it’s related to the Lexus’ security system.

Can anyone tell me how to turn it off so I can shift??

A: Check your brake lights, there is an odd chance that a bad brake light switch is not unlocking the shifter gate.

Q: Has the accelerator sticking problem been reported in Lexus LS430 models?
The accelerator sticking has been reported in the Lexus IS and other models, but I’ve never heard of it occurring in the LS model. I need to know, so I can decide to get rid of my LS430 if necessary. It has caused several fatal accidents.
Thank you, The Raven. The advice to shift into neutral and get off the road gives me a lot of reassurance. I’d been scared to drive anywhere recently, because you can’t turn off the ignition in this car — it keeps running even if you do turn it off.

A: The acceleration problem is only occuring in the IS and ES models years 2006 to 2010. There hasn’t been any issues with any of the other Lexus models. As of now, there is absolutley no reason to get rid of your LS430 because of that problem.

In case the accelerator does get stuck, immediatly shift the car into neutral and pull off the road.

Also make sure that your floor mats are properly fitted with the floor mat clamps located right in front of the driver’s seat. If you don’t have any, take the floor mat out and contact your local dealer.

Q: What is the part number for the new Lexus license plate bulbs?
Newer Lexus cars have license plate bulbs that have HID like lighting to them. It looks great. I need the part number to see if this bulb can be used on other cars.

A: The lexus part number is 2825, and I found a generic at the first link below. Check the second link, below, and see if your car calls for any of these bulbs:

T10, T-10, 194, 168, 158, 12256, 12961, 2821, 2825, W5W

If it does, the ones at the first link will work for you.

Q: How do I upload address book from Blackberry to a Lexus car?
I just purchased a Lexus 440H which has a cool blue tooth hands free phone system. I have a Blackberry 7100G phone and my wife has the Razr, both Cingular. I can’t figure out how to transfer the phone book information via bluetooth from either phone into the Lexus phone book. I successfully paired both phones and can call from either, but have to dial manually. I tried using my laptop which has bluetooth and a way to transmit Outlook Phone numbers, but my PC and Lexus do not want to pair up (I think the Lexus is only looking for phones). Help!

A: I needed to delete all of the phones installed
Remove all phone types
Reset or turn car off and on to reset Unit

Enable Bluetooth on BB
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on car)
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on BB 7100)
Set BB to Discoverable
Select Trusted to yes under device properties

Select “find devices” on BB – I tried this at least 10 times
Select “Setting” on car – will start device search (1 minute time out)
Hold BB near the GPS unit display – don’t ask me why…
Should be prompted to enter passcode (0000)
Select “Add Phones” (on car) – should display BB device
Select BB device

Once all of the setting have been set then you need to “OK” everything and restart the unit or car.

I was not taking notes during this process. I was actually getting ready to return the BB because I could not get it to work. I cannot promise this will work but it might be a good start.

Good luck.

I have not tried to sync the contacts list or calendar.

OR IF THAT DON”T WORK TRY THIS…

Blackberry 7100G SOLUTION

I too have a Blackberry 7290 and it is true that you cannot transfer data from it to anything else. It seems that Blackberry offers carrier specific programming to all the major phone companies; but they have all decided to lock the data transfer feature out completely from working. Even though these phones do support the capability, Blackberry seems to have recommended to the major phone carriers to NOT ALLOW for such data transfer in order to protect big companies from having data being stolen. This is a total bunch of bull !

In the meantime you can buy a Siemans S56 on eBay (make sure it has a Sim card – if not, buy for $10.00 delivered on eBay). Put in names and numbers in the S56. Add Siemans to the Lexus as additional bluetooth phone. Transfer phonebook from S56 to Lexus. Select Blackberry again as primary bluetooth phone. All names and numbers show up in Lexus LS430 navigation system and you can select and auto dial.

Good Luck!

Q: What is the piano song in the new 2008 lexus commercial?
The commerical shows various parts of car being built and at the end it shows a black lexus suv. It also says “Behind the Pursuit” at the very end. I really want to learn the piano portion of the song, please help!

A: dazda rimes

Q: What do you call multiple Lexus automobiles?
You know how the plural of octupus is octupi and the plural of cactus is cacti. Well if you own more than one Lexus automobile, do you have Lexuses or Lexi?

A: Proper way would be to say:

I have several Lexus automobiles or I have three Lexus automotibles. Lexus needs no “es” or “s” on it as it stands alone as one or multiple.

I worked at a Lexus Dealership and we never said Lexuses, Lexus’s, etc. It was just Lexus.

Q: What would most likely win in a race, a Lexus ES350 or a Mazdaspeed 3?
I’m just curious to know this cause I know the lexus has more hp but the mazda is smaller. I think the lexus will outperform but I’m not sure.

A: I would pick the Lexus. However, I haven’t compared both of these cars in depth so perhaps I’d be wrong in the choice I selected here.

EDIT: Based on the latest post here, the stats may indeed favor the Mazdaspeed 3 – but not by much. Therefore, I would have to add that if you’re truly going to set up a race between these 2 cars …. the winner will come down to how good each individual driver is.

Q: What parts are needed for a timing belt change on a Lexus RX 300 2001?
I know it will get a timing belt, tensioner and water pump. Should the crank and camshft seals be replaced? Is there anything else that should be replaced as a preventative measure? My Lexus has 106,000 miles on it. I know the belt should have been replaced at 90,000 miles but I did not find that out until it had 105,000 miles on it.

A: It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to replace the crank seal while you have it out and apart. Seals & gaskets should be replaced if you see any type of seapage because the oil could ruin the new belt.

Q: What is the most authentic way to install HID headlamps on a Lexus IS?
I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 and I’m looking to install HID headlamps on my car. I currently do not have HID headlamps and I would like to find the best HID kit that comes the closest to Lexus’ Factory HID Headlamps in terms of color and brightness. Is it possible to just have Lexus do it?

A: most after market systems are plug and play. do not let the dealer install it. they would charge too much. with that said u would want to purchase a phillips hid kit. they are one of the best. all u need is the bulb number. heres a link so u can get an idea
http://www.delonixradar.com.au/HID/philips-single-hid-kit/

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H3-4300K-Genuine-Philips-HID-conversion-Kit-real-deal_W0QQitemZ400008471632QQcmdZViewItem

Q: 2000 lexus gs300, What are the best tires to get for this car since heading toward winter?
I went to the lexus dealer in my area and I do trust them with the work on my car as I did previous, but jeez dunlap tires are $165 a piece. I guess in order to keep the smooth ride this is the price I have to pay. Does anyone have any suggestions

A: It would be a cold day in hell before I would get tires from my Lexus dealer. I’d have to probably trade in a kid or two just to afford their price.
Any quality tire will do from almost anyplace. Check around to some of the tire shops in your area and price the same size tire that are on your car now. I’m partial to Cooper tires but that’s just me.

Q: What Lexus car today uses the bright white license plate lamps?
I see some Lexus cars out on the road have those bright white license plate lamps. I wonder what model of car could that be and what is the part number of that license plate lamps. I want to wire that into my Chevy Impala.

A: All 2006+
IS250/350
GS350
LS460

Use LED license plate bulbs. You are better off buying 194/168 size LEDs from V-LEDS.com because the Lexus one’s will cost you a pretty penny.

Here is the link to V-LEDs and the bulb you should buy.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/6292687/vpcsid/0/SFV/32481

Good luck.

Q: What is the official name of the exterior paint color of a 2002 Lexus IS300 that is red?
Again; what is the official name of the exterior paint color of a 2002 Lexus IS300 that is bright red?

A: I believe the color is called “Absolutely Red”.

Q: How much will the Alternator for this Lexus cost?
I’m looking at a lexus to purchase on the internet. It’s a 1994 Lexus SC 400. It neeeds a key, and an alternator. Thats all I know, they say everything else is good. (of course id inspect, and test drive the car before buying it) So I was wondering how much a new alternator would cost for this lexus.

A: Just call your local Lexus dealer (factory part) and Autozone (aftermarket). Although I’m glad you’re buying used, be sure to get a Car Fax report on the car.

Q: What is a reasonable price for my Lexus?
I am trying to sell my 1996 Lexus. It has over 140,000 miles but I changed the engine a few months ago(70,000). It is in good condition. I don’t know what I can ask for it because it has a lot ofmileagee? What do you think?

A: I’ll give you 500 bucks and a case of beer. Deal?

Are you looking for a Audi A4?

Q: What is this noise coming from the rear of my Audi A4?
I have a 99 Audi A4 2.8 quattro and once i get going faster than 30 there is a loud humming noise coming from the rear of the car. It is independent of acceleration and only goes away once i am going under about 30. Help me. What is this noise?

A: I dont know what type of noise it is?
But sure your car makes noise related to the movement of your car.Only moving parts at the rear are-tyres,wheel bearings, differrential or the propeller shaft universal cross damage.Check any of these.

Q: Why is there smoke coming out of my Audi A4?
Hi, i recently bought a used 2001 audi a4 1.8T and i’ve noticed smoke coming out of my hood so i opened my hood and i see smoke coming under my engine near my turbo, and i see some oil leaks onto my turbo and around there. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong and what i should do to fix my car?

A: It is likely that the seals in the turbo are shot and that oil is being burnt in the exhaust housing. The smoke is likely leaking out the wastegate opening where it connects to the actuator.

The other potential problem could be oil spilt on the turbo burning off.

With a car of that age it is likely though that the turbo is shot.

Q: What will my checkup cost for my Audi A4?
I have a 2005 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. The warranty is now done at 50,000 miles. The next scheduled checkup is at 55,000 miles. Does anyone know approximately how much the scheduled checkup/oil change costs at the Audi dealership? Thanks!

A: Oil changes in and of themselves should run you around 75 bucks or so, maybe a few dollars less if you’re not using synthetic oil. The scheduled maintenance may run you a few hundred but should be no more than $400 I would imagine. Check your owners manual and see what is scheduled for the 55,000 mile check up. You can also call the dealership and get an estimate based on nothing being wrong with the car except the need for scheduled maintenance.

Q: How much would the 2009 Audi a4 be after about 6 months of use witha decent amount of miles on it?
wondering if by next may the new audi a4 that just came out will be under 28,000 with about 20,000 miles on it?

A: 20,000 Miles is a lot for only a couple of months. I would expect the Demo’s to have maybe 9000-11000 Miles, MSRP of around $42,000, and sell for around $36,000. It is hard to guess because Kelley Blue Book doesn’t have the values yet, and we d not know if this car is going to be a hit or not.

The dealer I work at is selling our 2008 A5 Demo which originally cost $48,000 for $42,900 with 10,500 Miles.

Q: do audi a4 convertables leak water into the car when it rains?
i am looking into buying an audi a4 1.8 cabriolet convertable… i have a chrysler sebring at the moment and it leaks like crazy… will i have this same problem with the audi? is it just a convertable thing?

A: depending on the age of the car, typically A4 cab’s don’t leak, but like the poster above me said seals can dry out also take a look at the More here http://bit.ly/aGQunl

Q: I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start?
I just bought a 1998 audi a4 but today the engine did not start. So I put my foot on the brake pedal and turned the engine on and it worked….what’s going on? Please help.
My car is an auto – it did work without putting my foot on brakes. But then when I went for another short drive (less than 10 mins) the engine did not fully start – I could hear the engine about to start but then it disappeared.

A: battery loose
some connection loose
or a bad starer
it has nothing to do with you putting your foot in the brake pedal. the time you put your foot on it and started, you just got lucky. by the way you describe it you have an ignition problem start by checking the battery terminals, they have to be tight and free of corrosion and acid. after that check the spark plugs maybe they are too worn out that are keeping the car form starting also check for spark see if they are sparking if not, you might have a bad coil.
but it seem you have a sometimes start sometimes don’t situation so there is somethig loose so after checking battery and spark plugs make sure everything is connected properly the coils, and all the sensors connections wiggle them and make sure they have a good contact. the starer hot wire and ground too.
after that if it still don,t start put the parking brake turn the ignition on as if you were cranking the engine and tell some one to tap the starer with a hammer,s handle and if it stars you have a starer that have worn brushes and need to be replace. other thing you can is to jump the starer selonoid or just take the starer out and take to autozone to see if it still good.
the neutral safety swith is located in the clutch pedal on manual cars not on the brake pedal.

Q: When should I replace the timing belt on my my 2004 Audi A4 cabriolet?
I currently have 49K miles on my 3.0 quattro A4. I have been told different number by people- some say at 50K miles other say at 75K miles. I don’t want the thing to snap and cause thousands in damage. When should I replace it and how much should I expect to pay on a 3.0 engine, and should I get it done at n Audi dealership or would an independent place do?

A: Most manufacturers recommend changing the belt at 60k miles. If you still have your owner’s manual, it will tell you when you should change the timing belt on your particular engine. Most independent shops should be able to do the job. It should cost $400-500.

Note: I looked up your car on Autozone’s website. According to them, your car has an interference engine. That means that if the timing belt snaps, the valves might collide with the pistons, and do serious damage to the engine. So go ahead and get it changed at 60k miles, or whenever your owner’s manual says you should.

Q: How long does it take to put in a new catalytic convertor in an Audi A4?
I have a 2002 audi a4. my Dads friend works at an audi service center and is sneaking the car in and going to put in a new catalytic converter. He is also going to put in new shocks and struts and mounts? I was wondering if anyone new how long this may take as they didnt give me a loaner car haha… They are going to start tomorrow at 8am sharp, So he said… thanks so much

A: It also may need new O2 sensors as well. Keep this in mind too, when you do the struts, you need an alignment too. This car since it is “snuck in,” may take all day.

Q: Should I be concerned about high mileage on an Audi A4 Diesel?
I have test drove an Audi A4 cabriolet – it is registered March 2007 – it is a diesel and has done 83,000.00 miles. I personally love the car but my partner is concerned at the miles it has done – should be worry about this?
It has a full service history with an Audi dealer – from what Ive read online it indocates diesel cars are made to do more miles and it should be ok? I know roughly you look to 12,000 per year, but I would appreciate expert advice!

A: With good regular serving that’s nothing, it should go for much longer than that without any problems. In fact, regular lengthy use is much better than intermittent use with a raft of cold starts etc. That’s why an ex-rep’s car with an intergalactic mileage is often a better bet than one which has only been used to take a little old lady to church once a week.

Always buy on condition rather than miles indicated. I’d get it professionally inspected to set your mind at rest.

Q: What is the key button in the rear seat of an Audi a4 for?
On the same pillar as the driver’s seatbelt, there is a small button with a key on it on a 1999 Audi a4. When I press the button, nothing happens. I do not have the owner’s manual for the car so I cannot look it up. Do any of you Audi owners or enthusiasts know the answer to my question? Thanks in advance.

A: This switch switches your car alarm system on or off.If the alarm is set you will get a short beep when you lock the doors. On the drivers door panel there is also a switch with a key on this locks the doors if you are inside and wish to drive with all your doors locked. The reason that you have a swich inside on pillar is that if you say left a dog or any thing that moves around it alters the air pressure inside the car that could trigger the alarm.I have an A4 uk spec.

Q: Is it worth the money buying turbocharge or supercharge for a 1998-2001 audi a4?
I am thinking about buying an audi a4 between the years of 1998 and 2001 and I am just wondering if it is worth buying turbocharge or supercharge for it.

A: why not just get a4 that comes with a stock turbo?

Q: How to make my radio more powerful audi a4?
I have an audi a4, non bose/non navi. I changed the front door speakers and the sound is still really weak. My boyfriend had a loaner c300 today with the stock speakers nothing great and it sounded amazing, nice bass and nice loud sounding, just really powerful. Sad enough i can talk over my music when the vol is on 30. PLEASE HELP

A: I’d bring it into a shop to get an estimate.
You will have to get an extra amp… and get some new speakers.
I’d Recommend any of the Alpine typeS speakers.
Then add an 8″ subwoofer in box if you are not satisfied with the low end.
Good LUck!

Q: Is it possible to install a rear camera at an Audi A4 B8?
Hello,

I have an Audi A4 B8 and I’m willing to install a rear camera (I have the rear sensors already) and I want to know if it is possible to watch the images at the GPS/Radio screen. Which product do you recommend (if any)?

Thanks!

A: Yes… you could get the one from Audi or any of the 3rd party dist…

check out http://audiforum.us/audi-navigation-electronics/

Q: What are some good ways to make an audi a4 faster ?
Its a 2003 audi a4 quattro V6 3.0L (automatic w/ tiptronic), can u add new air intake and exhuast to it ? and is it possible to add a turbo to it ?

What are some good ways / things to add to it to make it faster and wut brands , thnkx

A: well intake and exhaust with the pes supercharger is about the best you are going to do but the pes supercharger is about 5300 before installation a good exhaust system will easily run 1500 before installation intake a few hundred then anouther few thousand for installation of all of this and you are looking at around $10,000+ i would consider selling the A4 and putting that $10K towards an S4 i think in the end you get the most that way upgraded suspension etc. The S4 gives you the whole package handling and speed and i like the interior better too.

Q: where can i get Audi a4 quattro owners manual?
where can i get a free 2001 audi a4 quattro owners manual? either downlad or paper… i really need it. because i just got an a4 from the auction and it was missing a manual, which i need to fix certain parts in the interior. Thx a bunch.

A: Audi Manuel – y es gratis

http://rapidshare.com/files/198360087/Manuale-A4_es.pdf.html

You can get one from Audi http://www.audi.ddsltd.com/

and there are also quick references avl for free

Are you looking for a Cadillac CTS?

Q: What is the differences between 2009 Cadillac CTS and a 2009 Ford Fusion?
I looked up both and want to buy one of the two. I want either one full loaded. I did the build thing on both websites and both vehicles have almost identical features. What is the difference? Does the Cadillac drive smoother or something? Let me know anything you can. Any links would be great. Thanks

A: about $20,000.

Q: Roughly how much would it cost me to rebuild a manual transmission in a ‘03 Cadillac CTS?
I am looking to rebuild my transmission because it slips out of 1st and 2nd gears. I know the CTS’s need special tools to work on the transmission. Has anyone done this and for how much? Is there anyplace to buy a rebuilt transmission for a good price?

A: Wow! You have a CTS manual? They sold like 200 a year, maybe less….. I’d go to Cadillac and suck up the repair bill. It will be expensive, but they’ll get it done right, with no shortcuts, and you’ll get a reliable warranty. Anywhere else can be shady and lack of specific knowledge about a certain car or transmission can lead to catastrophic consequences. I’ve been a tech for longer than the CTS has been produced, have worked on MANY of these cars, and never seen the manual. That tells me that an independent shop or transmission place will not have seen one, so skip them and go to the dealer for a correct repair.

Q: What kind of headlight bulbs do I need for my 05 Cadillac CTS?
Hey I am interested in upgrading my CTS headlight configuration to HID’s and I need to know what kind of bulb the car runs stock. Thanks!

A: 9005 high beam and 9006 low beam

Q: What should I buy, a Cadillac CTS or a BMW 5 series?
Which is a better bang for the buck? For $45,000 I could buy a 230 hp 528i sedan, or for $6,000 less I could buy a 304 hp Cadillac CTS.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: How can I update the gps maps on my 2009 cadillac cts?
Outside of going to the dealership and paying $199 to update the NAV system in my 2009 CTS, is there another way I could do it myself?

A: That is the only way to it is to take it to the delaership. Sorry but no other way to do it. Not really the dealerships fault, more along the line of GM & NAV

The only other suggestion is to find a reputable source online that offers upgrade CD’s but I wouldn’t use them unless they were verified as to not cause any problems.

Q: 2003 Cadillac cts a/c leak causing water to pool in the car?
I have a 2003 Cadillac cts. There is an a/c water leak underneath the center Consul. Its causing everything to get wet! I took the carpet out behind the drivers seat and water is actually pooling back there.

Any ideas on how to fix this?? I found out that it isn’t the a/c drain. But the leak is coming from the a/c.

thanks!!

A: Sounds like the heater core is damaged in a way that is causing it to leak. When the heter core leaks, you most always find water inside the car near your feet or under the seat. The heater core is usually located inside the dash behind or near the glove compartment. It is usually a cheap part but very difficult to replace considering it’s location. Hope this helps

Q: Do you think 10,000 dollars for a used Cadillac 2005 Cts is worth the money ?
I’m 18, and i am going to buy my first car. I have always liked Cadillacs, but since they are so expensive, i wanted to maybe buy a used cadillac, a bit older model, is buying a 2005 Cts worth 10,000 dollars from a dealer ?

A: ask kelly blue book! it depends on the shape and milage.

Q: will the 04 cadillac cts look bad 5 years from now compared to the newer model??
should i get the 04 cadillac cts i can get it for a good price with low miles and i wanna know if it will look bad if i still have it 5 years from now?

A: well a 2002 mercedes benz still looks good so prolly not

Q: Whats the Best color for the Cadillac CTS?
I like red because it really compliments its sporty look.
what about yall and why?

http://custom.netcarshow.com/Cadillac/2004-CTS/04.htm
i am also talking about the 03-07 models.

A: Definitely black! Black is the best color for everything! Or a dark gray. I love the CTS!!!

Q: where can i get an 04 cadillac cts catalytic converter?
I was told that it was a factory item and I could only get it at a cadillac dealership. That would cost around 900 dollars and i don’t want to spend that much.

A: Shark, Left or right bank? Cat is part of exhaust manifold. Try Brock Auto Parts on-line. No emission warranty on your 04 cad? GM part only. Good Luck TW

Q: Cadillac CTS 2003 Srvc air bag light keeps coming on ?
I have a Cad CTS 2003 and the “Service air bag light keeps coming on, on the little screen. I do not have the money to take it in, Each time I go to the dealership I never get out of there for under $500. Any opinions ?

Thank you both for your answers.

A: You deffenetly need it to be looked at just for the pure fact that the airbags are a safety feature and if the Service light for the air bag is coming on then you may be risking your life if you were to get into a wreck. Dealerships will charge you quit a bit of money theres no real way around that unless you want to take it to a 2nd hand worker. It could be something as simple as the ignition going out or it could even be as worse as needing the sensors replaced. You should try to take it to an Autozone or O’reillys store, they can check your computer on your car for free and since it is telling you a circumstance they should be able to pull up exactly what the computer is telling you is wrong and then you can just call the dealer and tell them what exactly is wrong with the car, ask them how much it costs to fix, and ask them if its safe to keep driving the vehicle while its on. Goodluck.

Q: How do you put your 06 Cadillac CTS into neutral when the battery is dead?
When I put my keys in, the break pedal won’t move and I am unable to shift to neutral. When I try to start, I get a series of clicking noises.

A: You don’t need power to shift. Place foot on the brake while ignition on, make the shift.

Q: Pros and Cons on a 03 Cadillac CTS Direct Injection?
im looking at this vehicle and i realli like it because its in really good shape all though the mileage is 158,000 and its an 03 Cadillac CTS Direct Injection Manual. I need to know the Pros and Cons on this car! im 17 and if i get this, this would be my first car.

A: Hi from France ♫

Buy it !!.. .

Have a great day,

Cat.

Q: IS The Maintenance on a Cadillac CTS as expensive as Mercedes and Audi’s and BMW?
Would the CTS be in the same category as those cars as far as maintenance prices?

A: bmw maintainence is free for 5 years. Only benzs are high. Cadillac is cheaper because it is GM made. Audi can be costly.

Q: What is the crank center in a Cadillac CTS?
My car stalled this morning and would not start again. The dealership says that I need a new crank center.

A: I think you mean a Crank Sensor,
This sensor tells the computer where the pistons/crank is in relation to the cam shaft/valves. it uses this information the tell the spark plugs when to fire.

this is a quick fix, assuming your dealership has the part in stock it only takes about 5 min to swap out.

Best of luck to ya

Are you looking for a Subaru Impreza?

Q: Where can i find a stock WRX hood for my 2002 subaru impreza?
I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS. I was wondering where i could get the WRX style hood for it? all i have been able to find is carbon ones, i just want the type off the stock wrx’s. i dont even care if it is used. any information would be helpful thank you.

A: I would think twice about doing something like that. The hood scoop is what distinguishes a WRX from just a 2.5 rs. With the WRX the hood scoop is actually doing something, it’s not just there to look cool, even though it does. A lot of people will probably talk trash about your car and how it’s a ricer if you do something like that. And honestly, with me being an owner of an 02 WRX, I am one of those people that would not like to see something like that on your car. It’s kind of taking something away from us WRX/STI owners in a way. Just be happy with what you have, regardless if it’s a WRX or 2.5rs.

Q: What is happening with my 1994 Subaru Impreza’s manual starter motor after cleaning and taking apart?
I took apart and cleaned throughout my1994 Subaru Impreza’s manual starter motor.

I put it back on my car, all I got when I tried to start my car was

Pop, pop, pop sound
and the car sounded like it was trying to start but didn’t kick in.

Is this definately just the the starter motor at fault? If I replace it then my car will start good??

A: if its doing something now that it wasn’t doing before, chances are that its something that you did. take it to an auto sparky.

Q: What does the German guy say at the end of the Subaru Impreza commercial?
It’s tag-line is the Japanese car German engineers wish they’d made. It can be found on youtube by searching “Funny german commercial – Subaru Impreza”

A: Easy! Its just like the tagline

he says: “wünsche wir hatten es gemacht”

I wish WE would have made this!

Q: Is the Subaru Impreza WRX a good first car?
2003 or 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX in manual a good first car? How will the insuranc be?

A: No.

Insurance will be horrible. I paid north of $800 per year on a slow, pokey Nissan Hardbody pickup. It was eight years old when I got it, was the base-model truck (2.4 liter four-cylinder and manual transmission WITHOUT any expensive chrome bits or other options– not even power steering!) I should also mention this was for minimum liability and a small comprehensive coverage (because you never know when Bambi will dart out in front of you.)

The Impreza has a number of things working against it, for insurance:

1. It’s a “sports car,” in word and in deed.

2. It’s more likely to be driven by young males. Young people, and especially males, are charged higher rates because they’re seen by insurers as being higher risk. I don’t necessarily agree with that assessment, but then, I’m not in the insurance business.

3. It’s a compact car. Both the adjective and the noun matter in that sentence. Compact means less safety, and car means it’s perceived as being “faster” than a truck. In my experience a compact car would have cost me more to insure than a similarly sized pickup (which is why I got the Nissan and now drive a Ford Ranger.)

Additionally, you should be forewarned that these cars tend to bring out the rally racer-wannabe hoon in everyone who drives them. That means your 2003-2004 dream car is more likely to have been abused and punished by heavy-handed, enthusiast-oriented driving. Not to mention these cars have a notorious ability to chew up clutches and other expensive bits in a much shorter time than more pedestrian cars– even other Subarus.

Q: which is a better car for the value subaru impreza wrx or mini cooper clubman?
the subaru impreza wrx with the options i selected it $29,195 and the mini cooper clubman with almost the same options is $27,449.

A: Mini Cooper hands down, not a fan of Subaru at all.

Q: Which car is better: a 2008 Subaru Impreza or a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer?
I’m not very knowledgable of cars and it’s time for a new one and I’m not sure what to get. I’m stuck between a 2008 Subaru Impreza hatchback and a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer?

A: I inherited a 2003 Subaru Outback Impreza and I don’t think I’ll ever drive another type of car. Because it is AWD the gas mileage isn’t the greatest, but it’s not bad for an AWD vehicle. I feel very safe in it and haven’t had any mechanical problems in the last 5 years we’ve had it.

Also, when you own a Subaru, you can nick name it “The Sube.” Sounds way cooler than “The Mits.” That sounds like a disease

Q: Can you put a 2008 Sti engine in a 2001 Subaru Impreza Sprot Wagon?
I have a 2001 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. I want to put a STI engine in it, and a STI tranny. I have always dreamed of doing this to this car, but I don’t know if it is possible. Is it?

Also whould I have to upgrade suspension? and to what..

Thanks!
Eventually I want it to be a full STI custom.

A: you can but it’s a lot of work. Don’t know what engine bay mods the guy above is talking about so obviously he’s got his cars mixed up. All the mounts for the engine are in the same place so it will just plop right in there. The issue is with the wiring. To be able to use the Dual AVCS and S-Idrive, you will have to rip out all the wiring from your car with the dash, re wire it with the STI harness along with the STI dash and gauge cluster. This job alone will cost a couple thousand to have done or a couple months for a novice to tackle in their garage. With the tranny, you will also need the drive shaft, rear diff and all the axles and hubs which cost in the neighborhood of $4000 for everything but it’s also a straight across swap so no difficulties there. I just think that for the parts alone plus selling your car, you can find a desent 05 or so STI.

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f128/t82820-1999-2000-2001-rs-swap-wrx-sti-help-me-add-notes.html Is a good thread with plenty of info to read through before starting.

Q: How to set up my 06 Subaru Impreza’s engine for rally?
Its a Subaru Impreza WRX STI 06 2.5L with the PPP 320bhp package.
I want it to sound like theres a mob of angry bees in my exhaust, what will the fuel effiency be like afterwards and will i get pulled by the coppers for driving this setup on the roads (UK)
Thanks!

A: that’s an awesome car by the way but here is what i think

1 the engine is pretty much set up the way it needs to be, i would focus on suspension and gearing
2 the sound that the rally cars make that sound like bees is the anti lag system. or VGT turbo (very
expensive) but you could get a different exhaust to make it sound like that.
3 its not the best idea to make major modifications to your car if its your daily driver.
4 if you mod the exhaust the fuel econ. shouldn’t suffer.
5 if your going to rally i would get a cheep car because they get pretty beat up in racing. and stock
cars hold there value better than modified cars.
6 i live in Utah USA so i cant tell you about the police officers lol

but good luck in what ever you decide to do with it

Q: What is the Octane rating for a 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport (E22J) non turbo in the owner’s manual?
I lost my car owner’s manual and would like to know the manufacturer’s recommendation on the minium octane rating for 1997 Subaru Impreza 2.2 L Non turbo

A: The EJ22 (it’s not E22J) is designed to run on 87 pump octane (R+M/2, as the stickers on the pumps indicate here in the USA). Running a higher octane is not only an obvious extra expense, but can actually CAUSE extra carbon buildup IF it’s used in an engine that was designed to use lower octane. I’ve got a ‘97 Impreza with the EJ22 with 203,000 miles on it currently. We bought it new and have used nothing but 87 octane. I’ve never had internal engine work done on it and it’s still getting 30MPG.

Q: Who can tell me about the Subaru Impreza?
Is the 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX a good first car? Can I please get some information about it? Is insurance going to surprise me?

A: The guy above is a little off on the power an no I don’t think it’s a good first car. Too much power and temptation to do stupid things with it. And don’t say you aren’t worried because you are responsible because you all say that now but I’ve been there and it happens to every kid. Statistics say that you will do some serious damage to your first car if not wreck it. Get something that is more sensible and won’t put your parents in such debt just to impress other kids you won’t know in a few years. You have the rest of your life to do that.

Q: what cars are there that are very similar to Subaru impreza wrx?
i am 16 and want a car that used and cheap with a turbo engine so that i can install a blow off valve because the blow off valve is music to my ears… any ways i was wondering what other cars are out there that are similar to the subaru impreza wrx with a turbo engine.

A: Theirs quite a few cars that are similar to the wrx. You got the evo of course, the cobalt ss, srt 4, Mazda speed 3, the older eclipse gst and gsx, and the vw gti 1.8t and r32. I know I’m probably forgetting some, but the only ones out of the ones I listed that are awd would be the eclipse gsx, the r32, and the evo, with the evo being the most comparible, but more comparible to the sti. The eclipse’s, srt 4, or maybe even the gti 1.8t would probably be the ones most in your price range taking your age into consideration, but who knows you could be rich lol. Anyway, good luck with your decision

Q: I have a question on a 1993 Subaru Impreza?
I have a 1993 Subaru Impreza. The car has power windows. What would cause the window to stop rolling up and down? All the other windows work just fine. Just the drivers side power window stopped rolling up and down. What could be wrong with it?

A: Window motor and or window regulator or window switch probly both the window regulator and window power motor they usuallyboth quit working at the same time

Q: What motors will fit in a 1994 Subaru Impreza FWD? preferably a twin turbo motor. Would like a number like EJ?
I bought a 1994 Subaru Impreza, a week or so ago. Motor has like 110 horse and Iam a young guy in high school and this is no where near enough. So I heard on the internet that if you change out the cross member you can drop in a different motor. What I want to know is what motor with the highest stock horse power will drop in with the right cross member. I found a EJ20 I think with a twin turbo on it on ebay, Iam not sure if this will mate with my trans plus fit in the engine bay. The car is front wheel drive and has a EJ18 motor in it now I think. Iam not really familar with Subarus so any help would be great.

A: If you think thats not enough power then you really dont need it. All you are going to do is go do something idiotic and get yourself or someone else killed. You said your in high school and a young guy. So do the math. Young guy+high school friends+weekend driving+high HP car = one really bad mess.

Q: What car is best for tall people? Subaru impreza owners please read!?
I Really like the subaru impreza wagon but i am 6′3″ and a little worried about fitting in the car nicely.
Will that car have good driver legrom and can you think of any other cars ( under 20,000) that have a good amount of driver legroom?

A: You should be fine. It is a small car but most cars are designed to accomodate people up to 6′6″. My buddy is 6′ tall and fits fine into his Impreza with few inches to spare.

Q: Gas Gauge Inoperative on 2003 Subaru Impreza ~ How to fix?
I own a 2003 Subaru Impreza and the gas gauge just stopped working.

My owner’s manual indicates that there is no fuse that can be replaced to solve the issue.

Would you believe the problem is in the gas gauge sending unit?
Is the unit accessible or must one get into the gas tank to replace?
I’m not a good mechanic; in either instance above, would you recommend going to a repair facility to ensure the work was done right?

A: more than likely its the sending unit. access is through the rear seat. pull the seat up, you’ll see a large rubber grommet with wires going through it. disconnect them and pull the grommet out. the sending unit is in the tank, the seal screws off and pull it out. to check that’s your problem, plug the wires back in to the sending unit. (out of the tank). turn the key to acc and move the lever up and down and watch your gas gage. will cost between $150 and up.

Are you looking for a Nissan Murano?

Q: Why is MPG on my Nissan Murano getting worse?
When I bought my 2007 Nissan Murano last summer I was getting 24 miles per gallon. Mileage keeps getting worse. It’s down to 20 MPG now. The dealer’s service department manager said they couldn’t do anything about it except check for leaks. I use that expensive super unleaded gas, as recommended. Anyone else had this problems and fixed it?

A: change the air filter

Many people forget this very simple fix for poor gas mileage.

Also, you might change the spark plugs

Q: how can i get ipod interface or directly connect my ipod to my nissan murano 04?
i have an 04 nissan murano i think it has bose soundsystem as its on the faceplate, i know there is no dvd navigation and i see a sat button but no idea if that means its sat ready or not.

A: buy a cable they are well cheap they look like the headphone ports… i cant think atm soz

Q: Standard tire mileage to expect on NEW Nissan Murano vehicles?
I’ve been the only driver on my 2006 Nissan Murano. It has 23,400 miles. I’ve been told that the tires are needing replacement. I have been rotating the tires and had alignments done.

Is there a way to find out?

Can I get any kind of credit for tires that didn’t meet the expected mileage?

120809
I go from NO answers to two EXCELLENT answers! You both made it tough – such great answers!

A: Your tire life may vary original Good Year tires may need replacing. Some Muranos with Continental Contact tires may last longer. Your tires were only warrantied for defects 12 months 12,000 miles. Some dealers sell tire warranties so check your paper work and ask your dealer. Pro rate tire warranty’s may only cover 25% after 3 or 4 years. Buy the very best tires you can afford because those 4 small patches of contact is all you have for control and stopping. I use “tirerack.com” call and talk tires toll free and even if I do not buy tires from them I have an idea when shopping at my local tire store. Learn what the tire date is in the “DOT” code on those tires. Buying old stale tires is not safe. And buy exactly the size on the drivers side door jamb. Ask plenty of questions 4 wheel drive Murano’s use tires a little faster. Good Luck

Q: Nissan Murano electric driver seat will not move forward?
The driver’s seat on my 2006 Nissan Murano will only move on one side. It has different settings for 2 different drivers – when it goes to adjust only the left side will move – it sounds like it is in a bind on the right side – I’ve looked under the seat and there isn’t anything jamming the track – can anyone help?

A: I’d be willing to be something small like a coin has slipped into the track. You wont be able to see this just by looking under the seat, you will have to unbolt the seat and then remove the track from the seat.

Same thing happened with my Maxima.. a dime was the culprit.

Q: how much does a new 2009 nissan murano cost in manila philippines usin pesos?
i would like to purchase a brand new nissan Murano (copper color) if possible in manila philippines next year can someone give me an approximate price a fully loaded Murano?

A: I also reside in the Philippines; Makati, to be precise.

The Murano is selling at Php2.68M for a brand new one. There is only one trim, so consider this to be “fully loaded”.

In case you are looking for second-hand ones, the range is between Php1.7-1.8M.

P.S. If you are looking for a second-hand Murano, you can send me an email at blankwhitewall@yahoo.com. A good friend of mine has one in dark blue and is selling it. Here is the link: http://www.kotsemo.com/Www/Search/AutoDetail/?autoID=18022

Q: Premium or Regular fuel on 2009 Nissan Murano?
Does anyone know exactly what the fuel requirements are for the 2009 Nissan Murano? I’ve seen conflicting reports between regular and premium and wanted to find out what the definitive answer will be for the vehicle.

Thanks for the help.

A: Premium.

The Murano and Maxima have used the 3.5 v6 for many years. It was designed for premium and needs premium. Its a great engine and has won awards for many years straight. I have no doubt that Nissan will not alter this. Bank on premium.

Q: how to turn on the fog lights only on a nissan murano?
how to turn on the fog lights only on a nissan murano. ONLY the fog lights not head lights and fog lights at the same time.

A: Sorry the fogs only turn on with low beams. Your car uses a IPDM Intelligent power distribution module that turns on the fog lights with a digital signal from the light switch to body control module. Cars with more than 7 computers these days. You might check with other Murano owner forums some owner may have found out how to make fogs independent of other lights.

Q: can I add a back up camera to a basic 2009 nissan murano?
I’ve been looking at buying a new car and found that I want the nissan murano. The thing is that I can only afford to get the basic model, but I want the back up camera. So can I get a back up cam added to the basic model? I don’t want the nav. or any of the other features. I need some help on this! Also, how much would it cost to add it?
Thanks!!

A: I don’t believe you can. The camera is only available on the SL or higher models. The SL starts out about $2K higher than the S. I think the S has a monochromatic screen and not the full color display like the SL and SLE’s have. We have an 09 SL and it has the camera but not the NAV so it is possible to get one without the other. Talk with the sales people, you can probably get the SL down into the range of an S model. We got ours down from $33+K down to less than $30K and it has leather and camera and all the goodies. Good luck.

Q: Would I still be able to get a 2004 Nissan Murano in 2011?
i know this may sound wierd but would i still be able to get either a new or slightly used 2004 nissan murano in the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011? thats when i will be getting my permit and i really love that car. i have been saving up forever.

A: New? NO. Used? There will be plenty of resales by then no doubt.

Q: 2009 Nissan Murano , did you get your recall notice?
I just bought a 2009 Nissan Murano and just bought one and I just got my recall notice for something about the engine failing.

I had 3 over the span of my 2005 Murano Im just really shocked it was so soon.

A: A section of the letter sent to owners:

Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Recall Campaign on approximately 11,500 model year 2009 Murano vehicles. Due to incorrect software reprogramming, the Air Bag Control Module may cause the passenger air bag not to operate as designed if the vehicle battery becomes significantly discharged. This could result in the passenger air bag not inflating in a crash in which it was designed to do so, and increasing the risk of injury.

Q: Is invoice a good price to pay on a 2006 Nissan Murano?
I am looking to buy a new 2006 Nissan Murano. I can get it at the invoice price. Is that good? I’m not experienced in purchasing cars (we bought out last one 5 years ago), but i told them i wouldn’t pay over invoice. So, what’s a good deal on a car?

A: A Nissan Murano is a good car, but they aren’t selling very good right now. Tell your dealership that you’ll take the car at invoice plus and dealer incentives, rebates, or dealer cash. If a dealer is willing to sell you the car at invoice, they are still making money because the manufacturer of the vehicle is paying the dealership to move the car. That is when they offer dealer cash. Especially on a 2006 which is now considered last year’s model, you should find yourself getting some pretty good discounts with the dealer incentive and any trade you have.

Q: are parts for a Volvo xc90 alot more expensive then parts for a nissan murano?
i want to buy a new car and i dont know if parts for the volvo xc90 which is the suv is alot more expensive than the parts of a nissan murano or if there the same or watever. thanks for the help.

A: Parts for Japanese cars are typically the most expensive, Volvo parts are about the same as an American car.

Q: How much did you pay for an 07 nissan murano s fwd?
anyone here who has purchased an 07 nissan murano s fwd,i have a budget of 25,500 you think i can buy one for that price?

A: well if want to buy this car then you might have some problem with this car at the start like the brakes they will squeal in reverse at most time and don’t bother Nissan to fix it because they wont do anything. Anyway about the price it base off at 27,500 and you could get it for 25,500. Just go to cars-direct.com and look up Nissan murano and they will show the price for 25,524 and just print out that summary and show it to the dealer and most likely they will accepted that price. I did the same thing for mine expected i got the SL version fully loaded for 33,000 out the door and the real price was 35,100 plus tax, title, license, etc. So you will have a greater chance of what your getting. So good luck on buying the murano and you won’t regread buying this car it really cool car and fun to drive.

Q: Any reported transmission problems for 2006 nissan murano?
trying to determine whether my mom should buy an extended warranty for her 2006 nissan murano, we noticed the 2004 trannys were problem ridden, whats the deal with 06?

A: In my opinion, some of Nissan’s trans’ aren’t that great. I have replaced numerous tranmissions in these vehicles. And from what I see, as long as you keep up with the maintenance (Trans Service every 30k miles), you should be ok. But, if you haven’t, and depending on the mileage, I recommend getting the warranty.

Q: Do I need to “break in” my 2007 Nissan Murano Engine?
I just got a 2007 Nissan Murano SL AWD. I love it so far. Ride is amazing….and incredibly quick pickup. I now have 300 miles on it. I was planning on driving it to Tahoe this weekend, which is about 200 miles away, up and over a mountain pass. Its all fast freeway, but should I be “gentle” on the drive, or can I have a little fun and drive it a little faster. Is the “1000 mile break in” rule recommended for the 2007 Murano?

A: Actually, please read this article about breaking in an engine.

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Different materials are used in new engines. The older train of thought of how to break in an engine was based on engines made from cast iron. Engine technology and materials have changed, but the though process of how to break in an engine hasn’t. It needs to, because the materials engines are made from has changed.

Are you looking for a Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Q: How do you reset the quartz dashboard watch on the E-Class Mercedes Benz model W211?

A: if you have merc take it back to garage they might give free info

Q: I saw a Mercedes Benz class E,which was written EMC,I don’t know what the EMC is??

A: emc is the distributer in the middle east (UAE) Emirates Motor Company.

By the way, Kompressor- not Compressor (for the guy that suggested that)

Q: Does anyone know what kind of transmission fluid a 190 2.3L E-Class Mercedes Benz would take?
I left my manual at school.

A: Look on the stick. Dexron is almost a safe bet. M-B has always used that. However, M-B trannies are very, very expensive to repair or replace. Usually the dealer is totally clueless and will just sell you new or rebuilt for heart-stopping prices.

So unless you are perfectly certain what type of fluid to add, don’t add any. And don’t drive it with low fluid!! Be careful not to overfill, add with car running in park with hot transmission.

Q: Looking for a car. E-class Mercedes-Benz? In Germany?
Hello I live in UK and I am looking for a car auction in Germany I am looking for E-class Mercedes-Benz if anyone can help me any website to I can go and look for a car in Germany. Plz help me… I want left hand drive car.

A: here you can find car auctions

Q: Difference between C-class and E-class Mercedes Benz?
Can anyone tell me the meanings of C-class and/or E-class and the figures C220, E350, C320, E280, etc. If I want to buy for occasional long distance journeys on not-so-good road terrain, which is more suitable.

What is the advantage of 6 cylinders to 4 cylinders.

Any advantage of manual over automatic gears. Does any of them comes with sports shift gear system (combination of both manual and automatic) as in some FORD cars.

A: C class is the entry level luxury car. It also is the cheapest and the smallest 4 door sedan Benz makes. E class is a big step up. It is a mid size luxury sedan. It is significantly much more conformable to drive, especially long journeys. Oh, and more reliable too. On the 2004 model and after the air suspension was an option for the E class and improved the ride.

The advantage of the 6 cylinder engine is that first it is much more reliable. Can expect a 6 cylinder to last a lot more than a 4 cylinder. Also another advantage is that it is a smoother running engine. The 4 cylinder on the Benz usually comes with a compressor and that means that the engine is being over-worked constantly.

The numbers after the letter are designation for the size of the engine. For example a C320 or E320 has the same 3.2L engine. Thus an E350 has a 3.7L engine, an 280 is an 2.8L engine and so on.

As far as the transmission the only one that you would find a manual tranny in is the C class and SLK class. At least in the USA market. Europe is different and you can find a manual tranny on an E or S class. The most common transmission is the automatic one here in the USA. After year 2000 all models had the trip-tronic transmission, meaning an automatic tranny, with the option of shifting gears manually using the shifter and changing gears using the +/- feature. The transmission is probably more of an personal preference I think. The manual would(could) last longer and is cheaper, but the automatic is more convenient, plus you always have the option to manually shift. If you want real manual the automatic is not your option.

Hope this helps.

Q: Few questions about the Mercedes Benz E-Class W210.?
I am considering buying a used 1998 Mercedes E-Class.
I have never owned a Mercedes before and had a few questions.
First, would you recommend the gasoline or diesel engine?
Also, I prefer to do most work on my cars on my own. I can do pretty much all basic repairs and maintenance, and I will bring it to the shop for more in depth sort of work.
I’ve owned and worked on several BMW’s (mostly E30’s) and find them to be pretty straight forward. How are the Mercedes to work on?
I was also surprised to find that parts for my BMW E30 were far less expensive then I had expected and relatively easy to find. How are the parts for the W210 as far as pricing and availability?
I’ve been happy with my BMW’s reliability. How reliable could I expect the Mercedes W210 to fare?
I would love to get another BMW, but for winter driving in New England the BMW leaves much to be desired. How does the E-Class handle, especially in the snow. How well does the 4Matic perform?
Thanks.
I am looking to buy it used from a private party.
This will be a second, technically 3rd car, as neither of my other 2 do well in the snow, slush, ice etc of Connecticut. I’m also considering actually getting the wagon, there’s a used one for sale locally that looks good. My other 2 cars are a fully restored E30 BMW 325i convertible and an Acura RSX S, so not only are they not good in winter driving, they are also limited in space. So thought the wagon would be good to have for a little more room for people and cargo without having to resort to an SUV. I’m not a fan of SUV’s. So figure the wagon would be a good compromise.
I have a MBz dealership 2 towns over, but would rather avoid them doing the work on it, as the dealership tends to be pricy. But could if needed.
I just want to avoid complicated repairs or huge repair bills which I know some euro cars are notorious for. But from experience the older ones seem to be less expensive to repair and maintain, at least with my BMW’s.

A: First off, 4matic wasn’t available on US Diesel models. So you’re going to be looking at gassers only.

I’ve owned an 1999 E320 4matic wagon from new. I can honestly say that it’s been a bitter disappointment. Of all the Mercedes I’ve ever had, it is the worst for repairs and rust. I have an ‘87 190D with 300,000 miles that runs far more reliably and has less body rot. I keep the E320 because the size of the car is exactly right for my needs. There are few wagons to choose from in this size class. It’s great in the snow, and I’ve never had a serious transmission problem.

As for repairs, I find the car to be a PITA to work on. Things are difficult to access, the shop manual is hard to get, and the diagnostic software is only available to dealers. For this reason, I spend more on repairs for this car than any other car I own, with a lot of work being done by the dealer.

When the car was new, I bought an extended warranty, which carried it through the first seven years or so. On warranty, I didn’t count the cost of repairs, which was considerable. Since it’s off warranty, I budget three grand a year for unexpected surprises, like last year’s new differential. Or the occasional flatbed ride when a sensor fails.

Enjoy you car, I hope your experience is better than mine.

Q: Why is it the Mercedes-Benz E-Class the least most stolen Luxury vehicle? Do thieves not like the car?
I was reading up on some articles, and in a couple of magazine about the most and unpopular vehicles out there. And they were talking about which cars were the most stolen and which ones are not. And in the luxury car section, of course the Cadillac Escalade was the most stolen car. but in the least most stolen luxury car section, they said it was the Mercedes E-class. I am not a fan of Mercedes but i was a little shocked. People praise Mercedes so much that i was thinking that all of the Mercedes types would be stolen. so what my question is why is the E-Class the least popular out of the bunch?

A: It is the fact that they cannot be hotwired. They have “smart keys” which reprogram themselves every 30 seconds. The code is something like 18+ digits long and it’s pretty much impossible to steal the car until the theif has the original key.

Q: Which would you prefer, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class or Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

A: i currently own the c-class, and my wife drives the e-class, so i have driven both extensively. the c-class is definitly my favorite because it is more of a sport coupe, while the e-class is a mid-range luxury car.

Q: About how much would it cost to replace an injector pump for Mercedes-Benz E-Class E300D???

A: First of all, be sure that this is the real problem. A diesel fuel pump replacement is very expensive. There are diesel pump rebuilders, specializing in Bosch fuel pumps, but you will have to look them up in the Yellow Pages. First I would try to have your fuel system purged and cleaned if this car is high mileage. You make no mention of the year or mileage. Usually, the factory pump will last for over 250,000 miles, unless it has rusted internally from water or bad fuel. If you are very lucky, the cleaning procedure will do a lot of good. There is a product for this called diesel purge, made by Lubro-Moly of Germany. It is like a tune up in a can. Also, poor engine compression may act like a weakened fuel pump. Have things tested out.

Q: What is the title of the new mercedes-benz e-class commercial song?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjfzHY5-2sM

the background music is AWESOME??! where can i get it, can i? what’s it called or who sings it?!

A: damnn yoo i hate that song lol

Q: What would a 1977 Mercedes-Benz E-class sell for?
Should I hold onto it and look forward to the value going up in later years?
At 20 years old — it’s considered a classic. Should I hold onto it and look forward to the value going up in later years?

A: Personally, I would hold on to it for a few more years and let it continue to appreciate.

Q: why does the 2010 mercedes benz e class thats in europe have a differnt gear selecter then the one in america?
the europe model has a differnt gear selecter then the one in usa

A: Makers adapt their products to the local market preferences – the US model has details that appeal to the US customer which helps sales. This may even be a consequence of a different gearbox/transmission selected to fit the engines, which are also likely to differ for car tax and fuel pricing reasons.

Q: Which car is better, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or a Jaguar XF?
Compare the 2009 models.

A: Well this is tough…

The Mercedes E-class (2009 model)
This was was originally introduced in 2003 and from 1998-2003 (roughly) Mercedes decided to cut corners, and the Mercedes brand’s quality declined and many customers became dissatisfied, but now Mercedes decided to spend the money to fix their problems. However some elements of the cost-cutting of the “dark era” of Mercedes may still be present in the E-class.

But the E-class still has a long history of innovation, safety, and luxury. Inside is fabulous and you know you are sitting in a machine of timeless elegance and prestige. The response is excellent and it accelerates smoothly.

The Jag…
This was one of Ford’s last projects. After years of cost cutting, Jaguar’s name was tarnished and many elements of this is shown. Now it is owned by Tata (Indian company). I didn’t trust Ford and I really don’t trust Tata.

Underneath, this is still the S-type but cleverly covered up. The console uses discreet amounts of plastic that sort of takes away from the feel of this car. Something in the interior seems to be missing. However, this car is the statement that is Jaguar say that: “I’m not the sleepy S-type, and I’m ready to challenge the Germans.” But the exterior styling is gorgeous. It was styled by Aston Martin’s ex-designer. Engine sounds really nice!

Bottom line:
For the price and value and overall comfort, go for the Merc E-class (2010 model is even better though! more technically goodies and new agressive styling).

Q: What is more luxurious, the Lexus RX 350 or the Mercedes- Benz E- class?

A: I like the lexus better

Q: Mercedes Benz E-Class 2009 Commercial?
There is a Mercedes Benz 2009 E-Class commercial that’s been on TV lately and I’m trying to find out what the song is, I’ve searched youtube and google and I can’t find the commercial, can someone please help me out?? All I know is that towards the end of the commercial, they show two J.D. Power Associate awards, I know that the info is a bit vague, but that’s all I’ve got; I can’t remember anything else about that commercial, can someone please help me out?

A: idk.

Are you looking for a Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Q: What’s the best car for it’s value BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Lexus IS250, or Infiniti G37?
What’s the best car for the price on performance, reliability, repair costs, etc? I am looking to buy a car but want to get the most bang for my buck.

I am not very knowledgeable in cars so any information will help thanks!

A: I already did the research for you on this one earlier this year when I bought my 2009 Infiniti G37x

Q: how to fold down the rear seats on a 55 plate Mercedes Benz C Class?
I need to lower the rear seats on a 55 plate Mercedes Benz C Class, in the boot i found 2 panels which i removed and found 2 locking clamps, (similar to what you get on doors when the door shuts its closes around it to hold it shut) but i cant find any levers or anything to release the clamps to lower the seats.

any ideas

A: Lift the boot lid. There are two flush release levers visible just below the rear window. Just pull them. No fiddling about on your knees and feeling between the seat cushions on a Merc.!

Q: Where is the cigarette lighter in a 2000-2005 Mercedes Benz C-Class Car?
I may be buying this car soon, I need to know where the cigarette lighter is because I use a radar detector, thanks!

A: There are none.

Q: How much would you pay for a 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C230?
Are these good cars? Does the age make it not too good?

A: How much would I pay? Depends on the mileage, the condition it’s in and also if it is the sedan or coupe version of the C230.

The C-Class is a pretty good car. Just watch for premature failure of the front suspension system ( either springs and/or the multi-link suspension systems ). The 1.8L M271 engine is quite smooth and powerful but be aware that it is highly complex. If something does go wrong with the engine, it can be expensive to fix.

Q: Mercedes Benz C Class 200 Kompressor cambelt help?
hi i have a Mercedes Benz C Class 200 Kompressor automatic i was wondering if it is cam belt or is it chain driven? its done 67.000 miles and wondering if it needs to be changed? any help much appreciated

A: Your engine is chain driven and should not need changing unless you get any noise from it.
This engine is bullet proof and will do 200.000 no problem.

Q: When a new 2009 Mercedes Benz c class will arrive in USA?
any change between 2008 and 2009 model?

A: no major changes are planned, like Jay P said, possibly some new colors. other things being considered though are putting the more powerful SLK350’s 300hp V-6 in the 09 C350, and a more aggresive sport option package.

don’t forget to vote best answer!

Q: Is a Mercedes Benz R class better than a C class?
Hi, for my Physics project I am to write an argumentative essay on which car(out of three) is the safest, I have chosen for one the Mercedes Benz r class.

However I found a report saying that the Mercedes Benz C Class is very safe, I was just wondering if the R Class has the same features. Here is the report: http://www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/_scripts/ancap_summary_result.php?IID=228

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers,

Nick

A: Hey Nick you can go the link to see the crash test and scores.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/safety-recalls/index.htm

Q: How much did your Mercedes Benz C-Class Service B cost?

A: About $430.00 Service B consist of oil change, dust filter, and wiper blades. Also an inspection.

Q: I need a Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
I would like to buy a Mercedes-Benz C-Class pre – owned, does anyone know the best dealers? I found http://www.selectautoimports.net/ and they have good reviews but I need more. I am willing to travel to Texas, Michigan, TN, Virgina, Maryland, North Carolina but the dealers must have websites so I can get an idea.

Thanks,

A: look on cars.com or craigslist. you can also get great deals on ebay!

Q: Who likes the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C270 Classic CDi…….?
Who likes the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C270 Classic CDi…….
I Do the great vehicles my brother in law has one 2.7 V6 Diesel
Its well Good

A: They are great cars, and that Diesel Engine is quick and so efficient, the M.P.G. is fantastic. One of the best cars on the road. I am sure that oldhomre could not handle one after driving a MK. 2 Fiesta.

Q: Is getting a Mercedes Benz C class going to be expensive?
In Oil Change, Just in case somethings wrong with the engine is it going to be expensive, the parts, ETC….

A: That’s a difficult question to answer because it depends on what amount of money you consider reasonable and what is expensive.

Keep in mind that all Benz models ‘98 and newer call for synthetic oil so each oil change is more expensive but the oil changes are not done as frequently as the ‘97 and older models so you pay more per oil change but do them less frequently. It evens itself out somewhat over the life of the vehicle.

Q: Mercedes-Benz C-Class 300 ?
do MB. C-Class 300.. 2008 have a screen for guidness and everything?
like does it have bluethooth and everything ? if so, then whats the different between the one on 2009 and the one in 08 ?
heres a pic of 08

http://www.ecarlist.com/cgi-bin/showroom.cgi?mode=show&id=200526&d_id=1114

A: Minor changes happened to the C300. They now have memory seats for driver only and electronic adjustable steering column. For the Sport model, you can opt to have wood trim like the Luxury version. In 08 model year C-classes you couldn’t order them like that. Bluetooth and Sunroof are standard as of 2008. The multimedia package includes a bigger display screen, upgraded stereo (Harmon Kardon sound system) Music register, which means you can burn your CD’s into a 4GB hard drive, a PCMCIA slot, you can save MP3’s to a flash memory card and read it through the slot, Voice Command, Hard Drive based Navigation, and a 6 CD/DVD in-dash changer for just under $3k. iPod connection kit is a stand alone option, about $375.

Q: 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4-door C300 sport sedan price?
2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4-door C300 sport sedan best price for buying

A: In Southern California, I’ve seen new C300s go as low as $28,995. They had barely any options, but it still was a good deal.

Q: How to I enable the MP3 on a 2005 Mercedes Benz C class with Comand?
I should be more detail. What I meant is, is there anyone who knows how to enable the MP3 CD playback on a 2005 C class with Comand (navi) ? I know there is a diag mode (Mult+Ok+7) but anyone knows if I can set it to it can play MP3 disc? Sister’s 06 ML has the same Comand that can play MP3 disc.

A: Have you tried putting in an MP3 CD? If it doesn’t work, check the CD, and if you know that it works in your sisters car, then you may need a reprogramming from the dealer.

Q: How Much Does it cost to Maintain a Mercedes Benz C-Class?
2008-2010 Mercedes C-Class.
My Parents don’t want to get me this car because they think that it costs a lot to maintain.
What would a oil change, routine check ups, ect. cost?
2008-2010 Mercedes C-Class.
My Parents don’t want to get me this car because they think that it costs a lot to maintain.
What would a oil change, routine check ups, ect. cost?

For any one who thinks im spoiled, they are buying me a car because i got a full scholarship to school. So yeah.

A: First of all you don’t know what you are talking about. Second of all its gonna be super expensive. Nowadays oil changes have to be done by the dealer every like 10-15k it costs like $500. Not to mention brakes and tires,. The insurance is going to be beyond ridiculous. I am assuming you are going to get a lease. I think you are better off getting a Volvo, they have better deals and free maintenance. If you want to buy a car outright, look into an accord!!!!! They are great cars especially the Coupe!

Q: I am looking to sell a Ford Mustang but have no idea what an appropriate asking price might be?
The car is a 1989 Ford Mustang, LX Hatchback. H/O 5.OL, stick shift with all original parts. It has 131 000 Kms and has never been winter driven. It is not in mint condition but I would say it is in very good condition. It has been stored for the last two years. In the last three years, it passed as safety and an e-test. Anyone that could help would be much appreciated.

A: they sell for $2000-$4000 depending on miles and condition… OLD CARS PRICE GUIDE has it at 2200 to 4200

Q: How do you grease the ball joints on a 2000 Ford Mustang?
My car has been making some funny sounds lately. There is a brief moaning or honking noise coming from under the car when I accelerate from a stop. My husband said that the ball joints may need to be greased. If anyone has any other ideas as to what it might be, or knows how to locate and grease these joints on a 2000 Ford Mustang, it would be greatly appreciated.

Could dirty brake fluid cause this? When I took it down to get inspected a week ago they said the brake system should be flushed.

A: The factory ball joints on a Mustang do not have grease zerks so you can not top off the grease. That may not be the source of your noise anyway. Outer tie rod ends are a frequent source of such noise complaints on Ford vehicles. They don’t have grease fittings either.

And no, it is not dirty brake fluid that is causing this.

Q: How much should I expect to pay monthly for insurance on a 19 year old male driving a 1999 Ford Mustang V6?
I buying a 1999 Ford Mustang Base Automatic V6 as soon as I get my tax refund in this year. I live in Texas and have insurance on my current car which is a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT Automatic 4 Cylinder. I have been driving for 2 years and have had over 8 months ago. How much should I expect to pay monthly for insurance and who would you suggest I get my insurance service from?

A: I’m 19 too, been driving since I was 16 and not even a parking ticket. And still the lowest insurance I could get was 6000 a year, 03 honda civic. I tried every company you can think of for a quote, lowest one was Progressive. They are the best because they take in to account when you got your permit, not license. But i figured out it was best to just put myself on my moms policy. By doing that, my premium went from 6000 to 1200 a year. And it goes down for every additional year you have no accidents or moving violations. By the way, parking tickets DO NOT affect your insurance premium, only moving violations(speeding, red light, etc).

Q: How do i install a Convertible Top on my 2000 Ford Mustang?
My roof on my 2000 Ford mustang is starting to tear from the rear window area. How do i install a new roof? does anyone know the steps to installing the convertible top? do i need a roof with a window? or can i just buy the meterial, and use the same window?

A: It definitely is not a one person job. When you order a new top, it comes with directions, but it doesn’t always work out the way the instructions say. My hubby replaced our top and it is a bitch. Have fun. That’s all I can say.

Q: How do I pair my cell phone to blue tooth on my 2008 Ford Mustang?
I have a 2008 Ford Mustang with the bluetooth option. I can pair my device with other handsfree headsets. But I try to run it on my car and it dosent seem to find anything. I have also looked in the cars manual and found nothing. Please help!

A: you don’t. 08 mustang DOES NOT have sync as an option.

sync is available ONLY in the focus, fusion, taurus, taurus X, explorer, edge, and expedition this year.

your radio has a phone button, but that is only because ford uses a generic face for the head unit.

your sales professional should have let you know that up front, and i am sure if you contact them, they will tell you the same.

Q: Does anyone know that why ford mustang is not sold in europe?
There are millions of people who want to buy a ford mustang in europe and across the globe. Then why is ford not selling it around the world?

A: Uhgoo is right. Europeans have too high gas prices, and although the Mustang gets pretty good gas mileage for an American V8, it will not compete with the European econoboxes. I live in the UAE, and they export them to here, but gas is also about $1.70 a gallon, and there is alot of money here.

Q: What is the background of a 1979 Ford Mustang?
I am buying a 1979 Ford Mustang and i am wonder what it is like?
How did it run, what was it like in the shop, can i still find alot of the parts?

A: The 79 Mustang was the beginning of the new platform to replace the Mustang II Pinto based car. This was based on the Granada platform and offered the 302 V8 as an option. Since this car remained in production to 1994 most of the mechanical parts are easily obtained and the body parts are reasonably available.

Q: What are the different Ford Mustang types?
Ok There is a ford mustang then a Gt then a Shelby And a 500 Boss and a sherrod gt then there is also a cobra. What are the differences of all this, Why do some cost more than the other.

A: The major differences are in engine displacement and horsepower. In my opinion, all the different trims look similar.

Q: Why wont my power door lock actuators work in my 89 Ford Mustang?
Why wont my lock actuators work in my 89 Ford Mustang? All fuses are good, no listing for a relay and switchs all works. I bench tested both actuators and both work well. Any idea?

A: Ford power door lock actuators have an adjustment on them. The “nut” that holds the lock rod in place works loose and lets the shaft get out of adjustment. If the lock knob sticking out of the door panel bounces when you hit the lock button, this is the problem.

Q: How do i program a keyless remote alarm on my 2000 ford mustang?
does anyone know how to program a keyless remote alarm on my 2000 ford mustang? its the one that comes from the manufacturer with the lock/unlock/trunk option.

A: the above answer Is mostly correct, however, there are 2 important facts missing:

#1 flip the remotes over & make sure they have identicle part numbers on them, Not ALL Fords use the exact same remotes.

#2 You must program ALL existing (up to 4) remotes at the same time, or else you will “knock out” the codes of any other remotes not present.

Here is the link to download your complete owners manual for free. (in case you don’t have one)

Page 56 gives you the precise directions for programing remotes.

I know you’ll thank me for this info…so “You’re Welcome!”

Q: What is the best engine for a 1969 ford mustang gt?
Also i’m currently looking for a used or new 1971 ford mustang mach 1,

A: WHAT, a NEW 1971 Ford Mustang???? A Mach 1 at that? Am I to assume you are looking for one with one 7 miles on the odeometer… I’ve heard a few in existance. They exist but you’ll need to go fishing with very large bait to get a bite. Used are available depending on condition/price but you may need to truck it half way across the country.

As for the ‘69, the best engine is the same one that was in there when it was built, check the ID tag to get that information.

Q: Does anyone else have a Ford Mustang whose windows scratch the tint?
I have a 2005 Ford Mustang GT and my tint is scratched from the top to the bottom of the window. I bought it used and the tint was just a little scratched and it’s just gotten worse. Does anyone have the same problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

A: If you have aftermarket window tinting, you should carefully
take a sharp razor blade and remove a small strip of the
inside rubber weatherstripping where it rubs against the
window tint. My friend’s shop does this as a normal
procedure when customer’s have their windows tinted to
avoid this problem. The section of rubber cut away does
not contribute to leaking problems. It’s only there to clean
the inside of the window when there is condensation.

Q: What is the average price to repair a transmission on a 1994 Ford Mustang?
I’m looking a 1994 Ford Mustang. The ad says “Has Transmission Problems”. The car itself is pretty cheap but I’d like to know if it’s worth it with the cost of the repair.

A: Depending on the prob as little as a Hundred dollars to on average about $1400 If you live in Texas I could hook you for around 800 dollars. Common problem with those was a shudder while accelrating changing the fluid and filter should eliminate this problem if fluid is old.

Q: Which dual exhaust system is better for my 1998 ford mustang v6?
I have a 1998 ford mustang 3.8L and I was wondering which dual exhaust system to buy. I’ve looked at several brands but I haven’t bought it yet. I’m looking for a better sound and better horsepower.

A: Magnaflow is good . There will be more sound but horsepower on any exhaust is minimal.

Q: What will it cost to fix a gas leak in a 2001 Ford Mustang?
I have a 2001 Ford Mustang LX. There is a leak in the pipe that connects to the gas tank that drips out gas whenever I put gas in the car, and is getting progressively worse. It only leaks when I’m filling it. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it might be to fix a problem like this?

A: is a filler tube might be 20 bucks type

how to remove gas tank mustang
how to replace filler neck hose mustang

can look up price and might get a how to do it autozone.com

Are you looking for a Subaru Outback?

Q: Can a 2010 Subaru Outback take 3 child car seats?
My wife and I are expecting twins, and we’re considering buying a new Outback. Does anyone know if we can get 3 child seats into the back seat of the Outback? Thanks you!

A: It is not recommended for you to install a child seat in the center seat. It may lack the lower latch. The design may have changed or the manual may be wrong so check directly with Subaru.

Q: Is there anyway to buy a subaru outback or forester, with 3rd row seats?
We’ve got a big family, and Subaru is doing things for the environment (presumably cheaper than Honda or Toyota), so I’m doing some research. It’ll likely be a few years before I could buy one, but i’d still like to know.

A: If you’d like a Subaru with three rows of seats, you’ll have to look at the Tribeca. Neither the Outback nor the Forester is available with 3-row seating. The Tribeca is not the roomiest or most fuel-efficient midsized SUV on the market, but it has sporty handling (for an SUV), a comfortable ride, a stylish, well-assembled interior and above-average reliability.

Q: how do i fix a leaking tailgate on my subaru outback?
I have a subnaru outback 2000, it hja s aleak in the tailgate I cannot fiund but is filling up with water everytime it rains. has anyone else had this problem?

A: Ive had lots of Subarus never had a single problem not even a light bulb, anyway, you should replace the rear seals and you subaru will keep going

Q: When does the 2009 Subaru Outback Sport release to the market?
I’m waiting for information on the 2009 Outback Sport but I can’t find anything official anywhere.

A: I work for Subaru so I’ll fill you in. There are no significant changes to the Outback Sport for 2009. The cars have all the features of the 2008s, except they now feature internal mud guards in the wheel wells that are also designed to cut down on rain and road noise, the center console has been slightly redesigned to more closely resemble the 2009 Forester, the hazard light button is now red instead of silver, the carpets are all black, and there is one new exterior color, Sage Green Metallic with Steel Silver Metallic two-tone. The Topaz Gold and Steel Silver color combination has been discontinued (it was ugly as sin anyways). MSRP will increase about $300 over the 2008s. They are still available exclusively as a 5-door and the only option will be manual or automatic. The last allocation of 2008s hit late last month; the boats with the ’09s should start arriving later this month meaning that the cars should show up on dealer lots sometime in October or early November.

Q: Did anyone witness an accident on Xmas eve at 11am on rte 495 or 93 w/a teal Subaru Outback and a black sedan?
Accident was in the Andover area on route 93-the 1998 Teal Subaru outback and a small black sedan hit each other in the middle lane.

A: Andover is in England -right?

Q: Would a 2007 Toyota FJ-Cruiser be less harmful on the enviornment than a 2000 Subaru Outback?
My friend is a loser, and says that the emissions on his FJ are less harmful on the environment that an 8 year old Subaru. I think he’s nuts. Obviously there is no comparison on gas milage.

A: newer cars are cleaner.

Q: Is the Subaru Outback a very reliable car?
I’m thinking of buying a used late 90’s Outback and I want to make sure that it will be worth it.

I also want to make sure it is a car that I’ll never need to haul into the shop (or at least not too much).

Also does the AWD make it more prone to need repairs too.

A: Really it depends on which year of Outback you are considering. I would steer clear of the 1st Generation (1995-1999 Legacy-based Outbacks) cars since they have had notorious problems with head gasket failures. The head gaskets on these cars would fail and lead to overheating and head warpage, and this problem has been too common in the 1st Generation cars. 2nd Generation (2000-2004) models are less prone to this problem, but the 2000-2002 models have seen some HG problems which manifest themselves differently – mainly just leaking coolant, but no overheating. You are generally safe on the post 2002 models as they redesigned the gaskets to eliminate that problem. I have a 2002 Outback wagon and have not had any problems with the HGs after 75000 miles.

Generally, people have not reported (guaging from message board comments) many issues dealing with the all-wheel drive system leading to more maintenance problems.

These cars are generally considered fairly reliable cars. Personally, I would rate them higher than American and European cars, but less so than Hondas and Toyotas. They are middle-tier among Japanese autos.

If you live in the snow belt and need an all-wheel-drive car (as I do), you really can’t go wrong with an Outback.

Q: How to adjust hood latch on ‘99 Subaru Outback?
Hi. This started several weeks ago. I have to really slam the hood on my ‘99 Outback for the hood to fully latch. I checked the two rubber bumpers to make sure that they’re not sticking up too far. I also found three bolts that secure the latch mechanism and I was able to loosen these and raise the mechanism about 1/8″ but this didn’t help. Any ideas??

Thanks!
Spraying with WD-40 didn’t help. Seems like something is out of alignment.

A: Yea.You don’t need to raise it, but lower the latch. If you lower it down as far as it will go and it still won’t latch then put a big screw driver or a bar under the the part that the upper latch hooks to and try prying up on it just a little. Not too much.

Q: Should I trade my 2010 subaru outback sport in for a 2008 subaru wrx?
I just purchased the outback sport(new), however, I am looking for something with a little more power. I figured id get very close appraisal for both cars, so im looking at a pretty even trade. Is there any big issues with the 2008 wrx that I should know about?

A: Yes you should. And no, there are no real big issues with the 2008 WRX. Well besides for the fact that it is a complete different beast then the outback, and that you should be prepared to have the time of your life driving it.

Q: Rear facing car seat for Subaru Outback?
My 1 year old has just outgrown her infant seat and I need to buy a convertible seat to replace it. I have a 2003 Subaru Outback and I’ve heard that installing a rear facing seat in this make and model can be a nightmare. I’m looking for seat recommendations from people that have this car and have successfully installed a convertible car seat in a rear facing position.

A: General consensus is that you WILL be able to fit a car seat, depending upon model, in the outboard (rear driver & passenger positions) but not in the middle. Apparently installing a car seat in the middle of a Subaru is a no-go, in fact, check your manual, some Subarus specifically recommend not installing car seats in the middle position. And you can’t use LATCH in the middle either, only on the outboard positions, but seatbelt is just as safe as LATCH.

Britax Marathon fits well both rear and forward facing in both side positions, which means Britax Decathalon and Boulevard will also fit since they are the same seat shell, just different features. Marathon is the base model.
The Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Decathalon (These 3 are the same seat, just different variances of luxury additions, with the Marathon being the cheapest base model) can be found for regular price of $269, and on sale at Albee Baby online for $209-$219. The Marathon a wide open easy to route belt path, which makes using it correctly a lot easier, as do the built in lockoffs, which mean you never again have to use a locking clip. I can get it into 4 different vehicles in under 2 minutes. Because of the way the base is made, it fits in most cars. And, it is worth the money, b/c it lasts usually twice as long as most other car seats (all car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture) lasting a baby till they are 5-6 years old, where most at Walmart will only last till 2-4 years old. Rear faces to 33lbs, then forward to 65lbs. and top slots 17inches tall, lasts most kids to ages 5-6 years old.

A tech here got a rear facing Recaro Como in there. (Rear to 33lbs, forward to 70lbs, though its a really tall seat, and for that price, I’d rather have a Britax with true lockoffs, Recaro has backpedaled saying the ‘lockoffs’ on their seats aren’t lockoffs, but just belt guides, since users quickly realized they weren’t actually locking the seatbelt). http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=36724

Most importantly, keep rear facing as long as possible. Turning kids forward at 20lbs/1year is an outdated practice that could cost you your child’s life!
1)A forward-facing child under 2 years old is 5 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured in a crash than a rear-facing child of the same age.
2)A child’s vertabrae do not fully fuse until 3-6 years old, before then, she is at great risk for internal decapitation. The spinal column can stretch up to 2 inches in a crash BUT the spinal cord can only stretch up to 1/4 inch before it snaps and baby is gone.
3)Current research suggests that children under the age of two years are 75 percent less likely to die or be seriously injured when they are riding rear facing.
4)In a recent article from Injury Prevention, it was found that the odds of severe injury to forward facing children age 12-23 months old was 5.32 times higher than a rear facing child. (Car Safety Seats For Children: Rear Facing For Best Protection; Injury Prevention 2007; 13:398-402.)

It works this way: when you get in an accident and run into something, the car stop suddently, but everything and everyone in the car keeps moving in the direction the car was moving when it stopped, in most accidents, this is forward. So in an accident with a child in a forward facing seat, his head, the heaviest part of the body on babies and toddlers, flies forward very forcefully and easily snaps. If that same child is in a rear facing seat, his head tries to fly forward but is supported by the back of the rear facing seat, so there is no stress put on the child’s neck and spine.

Check out this photo album exclusively of rear facing kids, many of them much older than 12 months: http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/RFAlbum.aspx There isn’t a single documented case of a child breaking their legs b/c they were rear facing in an accident. There are, however, lots of cases where children have been killed and seriously injured where a rear facing seat would have protected them better.

Evenflo Triumph Advance fits well rear and forward facing outboard, too, and these are TOP picks in seats.

The Evenflo Triumph Advance (not the original Triumph, make sure it says Advance) is a great seat. $150 version at Babies R Us has padding similar to Britax seats, top slots of 17″, harnesses to 35lbs rear facing, and 50lbs forward facing. $120 Walmart version just has little less plush padding. Wide open belt path, easy to install, though it doesn’t have built in lockoffs. The harness adjusts at the front of the car seat, you don’t have to take the car seat out of the car just to raise/lower the straps. It’s one of only 2 seats that does this (The Britax Boulevard is the other, I believE), and it has infinite harness adjustment so the harness always fits perfectly until its outgrown. No more tugging straps to tighten them either. You tighten and loosen the harness using knobs on the side of the seat. As a major bonus, it can be used in a recline position even in forward facing mode. Awesome for kids who still sleep in the car. I LOVE THIS SEAT! LOL My son, who is too big for every other car seat at Walmart has the same amount of room in this as the Britax Marathon.

Q: Is it manditory to change the timing belt in a ‘02 Subaru Outback Wagon?
my car has around 89K on it. I hear that the timing belt needs to be changed on the 2.5L Subaru before a certain milage or the engine won’t work. Is this true? When is the proper time to do this?

A: 105,000 miles is the recommended interval. you should do this. if the belt breaks your car will stop running and there could be very expensive damage from the valves hitting the pistons

Q: What is the difference detween a 07 and 08 Subaru outback?
I want a standard Outback but there are no reviews on the ‘08 ’cause it is so new. Do you know the changes that were made? Is the new model better or not? Of course the price went up. Any help is appreciated.

A: i dont know but i would not get a subaru. i am a licensed automechanic

Q: would anyone buy my 97 Subaru Outback with 230,000 miles?
I have a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback, that runs great. The blue book is like 4500 for a 97 with 230,000 mi. whats the deal with that? would the mileage scare you off if i asked 3500 for it?

A: Honest answer: more than likely. I’ve seen lots of stuff online at the goodwill auction with about half of that mileage. Maybe a few civics and such with 200+. Goodwill could be an option for you if you want the tax write off.

How’d you get it to last so long anyhow? That’s pretty awesome!

Q: What is the best Subaru Outback model for winter driving on the highway?
I drive on windy snow covered highways at 60+ MPH and needs something that stays glued to the road, has good pickup, and maneuvers well.

I’m considering new and certified pre-owned.
Maybe I’m confuzed, but the 2.5i models list the following:

4-wheel independent heavy-duty raised suspension

But the upgrades don’t list it…is it assumed that the 6-cylinder ALSO had a heavy duty raised suspension?

A: The outback 4 or 6 cylinder are the same clearance and suspension the 6 has a 3 litre engine (250 hp) and more toys and cosmetic differences. Both have symmetrical AWD. And both have great handling, safe and are good in the snow.

Q: do 2003 subaru outback sedans and hatchbacks have the same front end?
I need to know if the hood of a 2003 subaru outback 5 door model is interchangeable with the equivalent sedan 4 door model; please only answer if you know for sure.

its the H6 model if that changes anything

Thanks in advance

A: If what you are calling a “hatchback” might be called a “station wagon” in the U.S. then the answer is yes. Yes.
