Q: How do I turn off the security system lockout on a Lexus 450lx?
My gear shifter on my 1997 Lexus 450lx is now locked out so I have to use a pen to shift every time I put the car in park. I think it’s related to the Lexus’ security system.
Can anyone tell me how to turn it off so I can shift??
A: Check your brake lights, there is an odd chance that a bad brake light switch is not unlocking the shifter gate.
Q: Has the accelerator sticking problem been reported in Lexus LS430 models?
The accelerator sticking has been reported in the Lexus IS and other models, but I’ve never heard of it occurring in the LS model. I need to know, so I can decide to get rid of my LS430 if necessary. It has caused several fatal accidents.
Thank you, The Raven. The advice to shift into neutral and get off the road gives me a lot of reassurance. I’d been scared to drive anywhere recently, because you can’t turn off the ignition in this car — it keeps running even if you do turn it off.
A: The acceleration problem is only occuring in the IS and ES models years 2006 to 2010. There hasn’t been any issues with any of the other Lexus models. As of now, there is absolutley no reason to get rid of your LS430 because of that problem.
In case the accelerator does get stuck, immediatly shift the car into neutral and pull off the road.
Also make sure that your floor mats are properly fitted with the floor mat clamps located right in front of the driver’s seat. If you don’t have any, take the floor mat out and contact your local dealer.
Q: What is the part number for the new Lexus license plate bulbs?
Newer Lexus cars have license plate bulbs that have HID like lighting to them. It looks great. I need the part number to see if this bulb can be used on other cars.
A: The lexus part number is 2825, and I found a generic at the first link below. Check the second link, below, and see if your car calls for any of these bulbs:
T10, T-10, 194, 168, 158, 12256, 12961, 2821, 2825, W5W
If it does, the ones at the first link will work for you.
Q: How do I upload address book from Blackberry to a Lexus car?
I just purchased a Lexus 440H which has a cool blue tooth hands free phone system. I have a Blackberry 7100G phone and my wife has the Razr, both Cingular. I can’t figure out how to transfer the phone book information via bluetooth from either phone into the Lexus phone book. I successfully paired both phones and can call from either, but have to dial manually. I tried using my laptop which has bluetooth and a way to transmit Outlook Phone numbers, but my PC and Lexus do not want to pair up (I think the Lexus is only looking for phones). Help!
A: I needed to delete all of the phones installed
Remove all phone types
Reset or turn car off and on to reset Unit
Enable Bluetooth on BB
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on car)
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on BB 7100)
Set BB to Discoverable
Select Trusted to yes under device properties
Select “find devices” on BB – I tried this at least 10 times
Select “Setting” on car – will start device search (1 minute time out)
Hold BB near the GPS unit display – don’t ask me why…
Should be prompted to enter passcode (0000)
Select “Add Phones” (on car) – should display BB device
Select BB device
Once all of the setting have been set then you need to “OK” everything and restart the unit or car.
I was not taking notes during this process. I was actually getting ready to return the BB because I could not get it to work. I cannot promise this will work but it might be a good start.

Blackberry 7100G SOLUTION
I too have a Blackberry 7290 and it is true that you cannot transfer data from it to anything else. It seems that Blackberry offers carrier specific programming to all the major phone companies; but they have all decided to lock the data transfer feature out completely from working. Even though these phones do support the capability, Blackberry seems to have recommended to the major phone carriers to NOT ALLOW for such data transfer in order to protect big companies from having data being stolen. This is a total bunch of bull !
In the meantime you can buy a Siemans S56 on eBay (make sure it has a Sim card – if not, buy for $10.00 delivered on eBay). Put in names and numbers in the S56. Add Siemans to the Lexus as additional bluetooth phone. Transfer phonebook from S56 to Lexus. Select Blackberry again as primary bluetooth phone. All names and numbers show up in Lexus LS430 navigation system and you can select and auto dial.

A: Proper way would be to say:
I have several Lexus automobiles or I have three Lexus automotibles. Lexus needs no “es” or “s” on it as it stands alone as one or multiple.
I worked at a Lexus Dealership and we never said Lexuses, Lexus’s, etc. It was just Lexus.
Q: What would most likely win in a race, a Lexus ES350 or a Mazdaspeed 3?
I’m just curious to know this cause I know the lexus has more hp but the mazda is smaller. I think the lexus will outperform but I’m not sure.
A: I would pick the Lexus. However, I haven’t compared both of these cars in depth so perhaps I’d be wrong in the choice I selected here.
EDIT: Based on the latest post here, the stats may indeed favor the Mazdaspeed 3 – but not by much. Therefore, I would have to add that if you’re truly going to set up a race between these 2 cars …. the winner will come down to how good each individual driver is.
Q: What parts are needed for a timing belt change on a Lexus RX 300 2001?
I know it will get a timing belt, tensioner and water pump. Should the crank and camshft seals be replaced? Is there anything else that should be replaced as a preventative measure? My Lexus has 106,000 miles on it. I know the belt should have been replaced at 90,000 miles but I did not find that out until it had 105,000 miles on it.
A: It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to replace the crank seal while you have it out and apart. Seals & gaskets should be replaced if you see any type of seapage because the oil could ruin the new belt.
Q: What is the most authentic way to install HID headlamps on a Lexus IS?
I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 and I’m looking to install HID headlamps on my car. I currently do not have HID headlamps and I would like to find the best HID kit that comes the closest to Lexus’ Factory HID Headlamps in terms of color and brightness. Is it possible to just have Lexus do it?
A: most after market systems are plug and play. do not let the dealer install it. they would charge too much. with that said u would want to purchase a phillips hid kit. they are one of the best. all u need is the bulb number. heres a link so u can get an idea

Q: 2000 lexus gs300, What are the best tires to get for this car since heading toward winter?
I went to the lexus dealer in my area and I do trust them with the work on my car as I did previous, but jeez dunlap tires are $165 a piece. I guess in order to keep the smooth ride this is the price I have to pay. Does anyone have any suggestions
A: It would be a cold day in hell before I would get tires from my Lexus dealer. I’d have to probably trade in a kid or two just to afford their price.
Any quality tire will do from almost anyplace. Check around to some of the tire shops in your area and price the same size tire that are on your car now. I’m partial to Cooper tires but that’s just me.

I see some Lexus cars out on the road have those bright white license plate lamps. I wonder what model of car could that be and what is the part number of that license plate lamps. I want to wire that into my Chevy Impala.

A: Just call your local Lexus dealer (factory part) and Autozone (aftermarket). Although I’m glad you’re buying used, be sure to get a Car Fax report on the car.
