Q: How do I replace a headlight in a 2001 Honda Odyssey?
A few weeks ago I was driving around, and I clipped a deer in the butt with the very right side of my front end. My bumper is sort off, my headlight is busted and does not work, and my quarter panel is a little bent. If you could tell me/show me where I could get the proper instructions for repairing a 2001 Honda Odyssey, specifically removing the old headlight and installing a new one, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
A: when u go to the auto parts store to buy the headlight they should be able to tell u how to do it…it differs from vehicle to vehicle but normally there are a couple screws that u take out and then the headlight comes right out
Q: What grade level gas is best for a 2002 Honda Odyssey?
Is it cheaper to use premium gas than regular gas (less cost per mile) on a 2002 Honda Odyssey? No owners manual is readily available.
A: You should be using regular gas, there won’t be any difference on cost per mile since the Odyssey doesn’t have a high compression engine or has a Supercharger/Turbo. Stick with the regular gas.
Q: How can you disable the alarm on a 2004 Honda Odyssey?
The security system recently seemed to change on our 2004 Honda Odyssey. It now automatically locks the doors after exiting the van. It originally did not do this and did not “chirp” when being locked. Any ideas on how to go back to the quiet version?
A: take it to an alarm expert. or if if your up for the job try disconnecting the plugs that go to the alarm converter box under the hood, near the battery.
I recommend taking it to a pro.
Q: on my 2000 honda odyssey there’s no writing on the transmission dipstick. How do I know when it’s low?
We think we need to change the transmission fluid in our 2000 Honda Odyssey. When checking the fluid there are no markings on the dipstick except for 2 small holes. How do you tell when it’s low?
A: . The two small holes or notches” The one closest to the tip of the stick, maybe 1-2 inches?, is where the fluid level should be when the engine is Cold. The top hole, maybe 1/2 incher higher UP the stick, is where the Hot fluid level is.
Q: What’s the estimated cost to replace the transmission in a 2003 Honda Odyssey?
We need a new transmission in our 2003 Honda Odyssey. Want to see if I can get some benchmark costs before we take it to the repair shop. Thanks.
A: $ 2000.00 and up

Q: How to change engine coolant in Honda Odyssey 2001?
I need to change coolant in my Honda Odyssey 2001. I know it is better to let professional do it, but due to my difficult economic situation I decided to do it myself. My Honda has automatic climate control. What are the steps do get coolant changed? Thanks for any suggestion!!!
A: the Odyssey uses long life coolant so be sure to use that when you replace it. Buy the pre-mix 50/50 replacement coolant. you can’t replace the long-life coolant with the cheaper ethyl-glycol type. If that’s your intention, you’re better off not changing the coolant.
as for replacing it, there will be a ‘petcock’ at the bottom of the radiator that looks like a “T” with a tube in the center coming out of one of the sides. the “T” part turns to the left and the coolant will drain out of the tube in the center. Take the radiator cap off to let air into the radiator as the coolant comes out.
Coolant is hazardous waste so you need to capture it and turn it in at a recycling center. most coolants are toxic to animals so keep the dog away.
once you drain the coolant refill the radiator then put the cap on. remove the coolant overflow jug at the end of the rubber hose that is attached to the radiator filler neck. You’ll need to hold the overflow jug up so that the level of the coolant in the overflow jug is above the height of the dashboard inside the car.
then run the engine and wait for the thermostat to open. the level of fluid in the radiator will drop and the reservoir will drain down. when the level in the coolant reservoir has stabilized, let the engine run until the cooling fan comes on. If you skip this step, you’ll have air trapped in the cooling system that can cause you to have ‘no heat’ or for the engine to overheat.
unless the coolant is contaminated by oil or such, I would really suggest you have the coolant tested and see if it really needs to be replaced. If so, do it right or pay someone to do it for you.
hope that helps
Q: How do I update my Honda Odyssey Navigation?
I have a pre-owned 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring van and recently purchased the latest upgrade DVD…but the instructions don’t say where the DVD for the Navigation is in the van. I can’t find anything other than the Rear Entertainment System…but that doesn’t appear to be related. Does anybody know where to load the DVD from?
A: the DVD unit is located under the front driver’s seat. there is a pull-down cover that opens to access the dvd player. you can then use the eject button to remove the dvd and insert the new one much as you would with any dvd player
hope that helps
Q: What car is better Mercedes M350 or a Honda Odyssey?
We have a family of 5 with 3 smaller kids 5,6 and 8. We own a Denali now and I’m sort of sick of how big it is and it’s a gas hog. I cant decided if I want a Mercedes M350 or a Honda Odyssey. Any sugesstions.
A: The ML350 is a gas hog compared to the Odyssey. The Odyssey will probably cost you less in the long run, and it won’t be in the shop for random problems.
Q: Whats it cost roughly to rebuild the motor in my 1999 Honda Odyssey?

Q: How can you temporarily stop a digital odometer on ‘07 Honda Odyssey?
I have a leased 2007 Honda Odyssey that has two more years on lease and I am already over the mileage. Is there anyway to temporarily stop the odometer so i don’t pay outrageous over mileage fees? I put 36,000 miles in one year which was my total allowed mileage for a 3 year lease. Can I just stop it temporarily??
A: park it or wreck it
Q: I want to change the audio system on my 03 honda odyssey?
I want to change the factory speakers n head unit on my 2003 honda odyssey, but I dont want to put in an amp or subs yet. Im looking to put maybe 3-way speakers in the back and front of the same size as the old ones, and a new head unit. Any suggestions on the brand, place to buy, type of speakers, etc?
I have to note that i know close to nothing about car audio n my budget is limited
Thanks!
A: Then go to a professional place like Best Buy.
Q: Honda oil filters the same for pilot and odyssey?
I have an oil filter for Honda Odyssey, would they work for Honda pilot? They are dealer parts and all legit so I wanted to know if they would work? Engines are the same 3.5. Thanks!
A: honda oil oem replacement filters are parts # 07AAA-PLCA100
yes they’re the same exact fitment.
Q: How many miles should I expect with a 2001 Honda Odyssey?
Thinking of buying a 2001 Honda Odyssey mini-van with 68,000 miles.
I am tired of American cars that spontaneously combust or have a financially fulfilling relationship with my mechanic.
I just want to know what kind of mileage one can reasonably expect.
Would appreciate thoughts on how much one might pay for this used car as well.
A: I wouldn’t pay a nickle for a piece of s’hit minivan. But I agree with you about American cars being worthless these days. At that mileage, as long as it’s been maintained, (which means new timing belt at 65K or no deal) you should probably pay 1/2 of the original price for a 6 year old car (assume that it first sold in fall of 2000).
Update: DO NOT listen to Randyrich about looking on Ebay. Go to www.kbb.com for fair pricing.
